Facilities and Special Projects Manager

The Facilities and Special Projects Manager is a non-production position. The key focus is to ensure that the business is equipped to operate at the optimum level through the provision and maintenance of buildings equipment and space to an excellent standard of repair and of security. This will be accomplished through company and outsourced resources. The position is a forward looking one and requires the post holder to identify improvement and change, through dynamic TPM based scheduling, and the optimisation and implementation of Special Projects. There is also a requirement to ensure corporate and regulatory compliance is upheld through supporting the QSE department, resulting in the creation of an optimal, safe and cost-effective environment for the business to function.

 

 

 

Role Purpose / Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

 

 

Special Projects Management

 

 

 

• Implement and drive major projects identified through Kaizen events

• Plan, organise and deliver projects to time and agreed schedules, causing minimum disruption to production, within agreed costs and achieving full production capacity as required

• Organise all necessary machine installations, removals, internal machine moves, machine installations

• Organise machine sales and actions to achieve best price disposal of redundant equipment

• Manage provision and continuity of services, water, electricity, gas, waste associated with special projects

 

 

 

Maintenance, testing and inspection

 

 

 

• Liaise with production on TPM creation and management to ensure effective and reliable availability of machines, including active CI of schedules to optimise performance

• Maximise life of machines through effective use of internal and external maintenance resource

• Monitor and manage performance of internal and external maintenance resource

• Monitor and manage Lifting Tackle Register (Certification & Insurance)

• Monitor and manage contractors safely through contractor control

• Manage asset disposal

• Support CI idea and implement improvements

 

 

 

QSE – H&S Admin Support

 

• Support the QSE department in the provision of records maintenance and supporting administration

 

 

 

Security and Fire Safety

 

• Manage internal and external security through maintenance team, contract and 3rd party

• Manage the security alarm system

• Maintain Fire Warden and Fire Marshall register and organise training as required

• Liaise with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to ensure legal compliance

• Manage systems around fire safety including Fire Drills, maintenance of Fire Extinguisher registers and the fire alarm system

 

 

 

Operational

 

• Maintain, monitor and manage the integrity of the building and associated property

• Cost, organise and schedule building repairs and maintenance within agreed budget

• Monitor and manage contractors through contractor control

• Organise, manage and control the tool register, stock and reorder level

• Responsible for provision of services, water, electricity, gas waste, setting and meeting usage targets and improvements

• Specify, monitor and manage cleaning provisions for the site

 

 

Tendering

 

• Liaise with the procurement team to organise competitive tendering for sub-contracted services

• Identify and rate potential service sub-contractors

• Maintain subcontractor PSL

 

 

 

Commercial Property Management

 

• Liaise with Dover/Finance on potential property development or sale

• Organise and manage any expansion projects

• Organise and manage relocation or site start up projects

 

 

 

Business Continuity Planning

 

• Manage, maintain and update the business continuity plan

• Create, maintain and ensure updating of site risk registers

 

 

 

Business Reporting

 

• Monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the Plant Manager

• Budget analysis, interrogation and improvement

 

 

 

Skills and Experience:

 

• Over 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing plant in a production, facilities of maintenance role

• Over 10 years’ experience with multi axis machining centres, CNC mill, lathes, grinders

 

 

Qualifications:

 

• HNC or equivalent in Management

• HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Production Engineering

• Time served Engineer (preferred)
