This role will support the Finance ambition to become an automated process led department, through process standardisation, the application of new technology and by leveraging digitisation and automation opportunities.
Candidates will represent the Finance Department across projects, identify issues, draft solutions and drive agreed implementation. They will also be responsible for driving internal efficiency & flexibility initiatives across Finance.
This role will report to the Head of Finance and is exposed to senior management, so will be required and able to operate independently.
Your job
- To take the lead in ensuring the production and maintenance of best practice process documents
- To own and lead process workstreams with subject matter experts to design target end-to-end finance processes
- To identify gaps in capability required to deliver future-state finance processes
- To translate finance requirements and current state process designs to create automation-ready process flows
- To lead and drive implementation of improvements to existing financial processes
- To facilitate the appointment and training of Process Owners within Finance
- To lead and participate in continuous improvement groups and projects representing the finance function
- To identify integration points between finance, actuarial and the wider business teams, in close relationship with group wide Finance & IT teams
- To ensure Finance requirements are captured within processes / projects outside of finance-owned processes
- To undertake ad hoc investigation and analysis work, as requested by management or the group CFO, to agreed standards and within agreed timescales
- To help drive forward good Conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.
Your profile
- You will be energetic and naturally curios
- Ideally from a consulting background you will have extensive knowledge of end-to-end process design, including capture and improvement methodologies – e.g. lean six sigma
- You will have had previous experience of working in finance functions ideally within the insurance industry, but having moved into process improvement, system implementation and wider project work
- You will have an in depth knowledge of end-to-end finance processes, such as Finance Operations, Planning, Forecasting, Financial close, intercompany processes and Reporting
- You will have proven experience of managing and/or leading a range of accounting projects
- You will be able to build strong relationships to influence stakeholders and senior management
- You will be an analytical, critical thinker with a problem solving attitude
- You will be able to understand and show empathy to those at an operational level and build support for new ideas/approaches
- You will take ownership and actively look for personal learning and development opportunities
- You will be highly organised, flexible and be able to remain calm under pressure
- You will have a Master’s degree in business engineering, Information Technology, business administration, or an equivalent
- Ideally you will also have an accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- You will have advanced MS Excel and Powerpoint skills and a knowledge and understanding of Access and PowerBI.
- As an organisation we also use SAP Finance Modules and VISIO so a well developed understanding and ability to use these tools would be a distinct advantage.
