About the Role:

We have a great role available for a full qualified CA / CPA with demonstrated post qualification experience in the commodity marketing and trading business. Sitting within our Commercial Accounting team, the Financial Accountant will support our Marketing, Trading and Shipping (MT&S) team, through the provision of accurate and timely advisory services. This will include, but not be limited to the business unit financial results, budgets and forecasts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

In this role you will take responsibility for the Business Unit (with support from Finance Manager) and working closely with leaders to deliver robust outcomes.

Some of the key aspects of the role include:

  • Financial management of the agreements that underpin the marketing, trading and shipping activities
  • Advise on accounting advise on trading and shipping deals in compliance to international accounting and reporting standards
  • Manage group and statutory accounting and reporting for allocated business units, including communicating results to relevant business unit Finance Managers
  • Cooperate and support with Lease Senior Financial Accountant in management and accounting of the company’s lease portfolios
  • Ensure all financial accounting documentation is maintained
  • Engagement with the internal and external auditors
  • Engagement with tax function

Skills & Experience:

As a degree qualified professional you will also bring CA / CPA qualifications and demonstrated post-qualification experience in financial accounting. You may have gained this experience within a large consulting firm, in commerce, or in an LNG marketing and commodity trading business.

Our MT&S business is located in both Perth and Singapore, so you will need to bring excellent communication skills, with an ability to build high-trust relationships with a range of stakeholders.

In addition, the following experiences will help you succeed in this role.

  • Experience in preparation of statutory financial reports
  • Sound understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, specifically AASB15 (Revenue with Customers), AASB16 (Leases) and AASB 9 (Financial Instruments)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • Strong financial and commercial analytical skills
