About the role
An excellent opportunity has become available in the Group Finance team in the role of Financial Controller – Financial Reporting. This role reports directly to the Group Controller and is primarily accountable for managing the Financial Reporting team. The team is responsible for the provision of timely, reliable and relevant accounting technical information to assist with the management of group activities and meeting obligations relating to internal management reporting, external financial statutory reporting and ASX financial reporting.
Accountabilities are delivered in line with the Santos company values. Key responsibilities of the role include (but not limited to):
- Preparation and review of the Santos Group Financial Statements for the half-year and year-end reporting periods, ensuring compliance with the most recent disclosure requirements under accounting standards and other statutory or regulatory requirements
- Co-ordination and control of the annual subsidiary financial statements process. Including review of financial statements ensuring compliance with most recent accounting standards and other statutory/regulatory requirements.
- Preparing Audit and Risk Committee papers and applicable Board papers
- Overseeing statutory reporting timelines and obligations, including assistance with the co-ordination of external audits for compliance with Group Accounting controls, policies and procedures
- Assistance with general corporate governance and maintaining corporate group structure, including working closely with Company Secretariate
- Collaboration with other Finance teams including Taxation, Treasury, Investor Relations and Asset Finance teams within Santos to identify accounting issues which may require technical consideration and corporate resolution
- Business partnering with Commercial and Business Development teams, to assist with application of technical finance reviews ensuring appropriate business outcomes are achieved
About you
The successful candidate will hold relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commence or a similar tertiary degree, combined with a CA, CPA or equivalent. Ideally you will bring sound technical knowledge of Corporation Law, Accounting Standards and other relevant statutory reporting requirements as well as proven experience in researching Accounting Pronouncements.
To be successful in this role you will ideally have significant years of experience in accounting with a large accounting firm or accounting section of a large corporate organisation, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry coupled with experience in managing and leading teams of professionals and/or individual contributors. The role would also suit a Senior Manager or Manager from audit practices looking to move to a large listed corporate environment.
