About the Role

 

Are you passionate about leading people and do you want to help us shape our market and client strategy?

We are looking for a strong re/insurance professional to lead the daily management across the P&C Business Management value chain in the UK and Ireland!

 

In this role you will assume a direct line responsibility for the claims team and act as the dotted line manager for other teams, such as technical accounting or In-force Management, in various locations. We hope to welcome to our team a strong coach & mentor who will develop the teams further and who will add value to our P&C Business Management Claims EMEA Leadership Team. You will contribute relevantly in terms of strategy, leadership, and functional content as well as with more general, market and business related insights.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

 

  • Direct line management of all Claims Managers in the UK
  • Leading the P&C Business Management portfolio for the UK and Irish market: ensuring strategy on large claims, paying the right claims, consistency and adequacy of case reserves, timely and accurate reporting on individual claims as well as portfolio level and actively solving problems to prevent surprises.
  • Representing P&C Business Management on the Swiss Re UK & Irleand Management team, actively contributing to the Market strategy.
  • Building a network with key regional clients
  • Providing thought leadership on key topics that impact the industry and the strategy of Swiss Re within the relevant markets.
  • Leading, shaping and implementing the P&C Business Management strategy for the location in alignment with relevant stakeholders and Swiss Re’s overall business strategy for the relevant markets; understanding and using market trends and developments.
  • Providing strong leadership and advocacy on behalf of P&C Business Management at relevant market and client events and in market shaping matters.
  • Contributing to developing talent across the wider team
  • Driving impactful client-related projects in support of our value proposition, providing strong links to the strategy.
  • Coordinating operational topics and issues in the location and facilitating conflict resolution as required

 

About You

 

  • University degree or equivalent with a strong business and financial acumen
  • Strong experience with P&C claims portfolio management
  • Significant experience in the reinsurance, insurance and/or financial services with visible market knowledge and reputation
  • Strong industry network
  • Excellent influencing and presentation skills with strong relationship building ability
  • People development capabilities with experience in developing multigenerational talents and teams both within and outside organisational boundaries
  • Experience in leading a cross-functional team and people across different cultures and locations
  • Strategic, analytical and conceptual thinking with an entrepreneurial mind-set focused on delivering results
  • Readiness to work independently and to take decisions (results-oriented, pragmatic, able to push efficient and creative solutions)
