As the HR Analyst primarily responsible for leave administration, you will work closely with associates, leaders, and HR colleagues in managing the leave of absence process, creating a system for tracking, analyzing, interpreting and reporting cases, and in policy development and implementation. You will assist other members of the team with corrective action, coaching and counselling of associates and dispute resolution between leaders and associates as requested.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops a compliant leave process and makes ongoing recommendations for efficiencies to the leave of absence processes
- Works with internal HR partners and external vendors in developing and implementing a leave process for all types of leave, such as Family and Medical Leave, short term disability, military leave, etc.
- Serves as the first point of contact for employees for advice and problem solving in the area of leaves of absence and assists as needed in the areas of employee relations, discipline and performance management
- Acts as a liaison between employees and managers during the leave process and provides guidance to managers in handling leave issues with their employees
- Reviews FMLA and other leave documentation for accuracy and completeness and determines whether and when to ask for additional information
- Exercises judgment and makes independent decisions regarding eligibility for leave, extensions of leave, and return to work, including engaging in the interactive process under the Americans with Disabilities Act as needed
- Provides guidance to managers and advises them on compliantly handling leave and return to work issues and assists managers in communicating these decisions to associates
- Timely and efficiently processes documentation for the management of leave cases and tracks time off for associates on leave
- Drafts and coordinates correspondence, forms, and other documents to communicate with employees and managers throughout the leave process
- Creates and maintains a system of recordkeeping that complies with federal, state, and local laws or regulations dealing with the confidentiality of medical records or other leave-related documents
- Stays abreast on changes to any leave laws or regulations and researches this information as necessary
- Creates reports related to providing key data on leaves of absence, such as types of leave and demographics of associates taking leave, etc.
- Assists with case management and tracking of data related to all areas of responsibility in the Associate Relations department
- Assists with other employee relations issues as requested
