The HR Generalist reports to the REX Center and is responsible for handling basic HR matters and activities to support assigned business groups (FOCs). The HR Generalist will perform various Dayforce system tasks required including validation of employee data to ensure compliance and system integrity, respond to employee verification requests, standard policy questions and concerns, onboarding, recruiting, validating standard employee forms, and basic enrollment related questions. The HR Generalist will work closely with the HRBP and the REX Center to resolve and respond to complex HR issues and/or escalate as necessary. As this role handles personal and sensitive employee information, the HR Generalist is expected to use discretion and follow privacy and information security procedures at all times.
- Support HRBP and Management team with onboarding and termination activities, as well as future state recruiting as requested
- Acts as a Liaison between the REX Center and FOCs
- Provide guidance/directs employees appropriately when HR related questions or concerns arise
- Gathers employee information and documents in response to requests by the REX Center, HRBP and/or HR Operations Manager
- Provide direct support to company employees, other HR groups, and company management as part of the centralized function to handle a variety of HR-related transactions
- Processes various transactions such as new hires, terminations, job transfers, job changes, compensation, etc. in Ceridian Dayforce system and support HRBP as needed; communicates with the REX center and ensures follow up and closure to assigned open tickets in ServiceNow
- Partners with REX Center, HRBP, and FOCs to communicate basic human resource policies and procedures as needed.
- Initiates pre-employment background and drug screening for new hires and follows up as needed to expedite results
- Performs necessary research and work cross functionally to escalate and resolve basic HR related issues and questions.
- Maintains utmost confidentiality of all requests.
- Facilitates and/or provides necessary Dayforce training and I-9 verification for new hires to support HRBP and assigned business groups (FOCs)
- Identify when HR employee matters require escalation and involvement with HRBP and escalates accordingly
- Communicates appropriate responses to HR related issues (employees and FOC management) and works quickly to resolve them
- Support and participate in the employee exit process as needed
- Make recommendations to HR Operations Manager and HRBP for continuous improvement
- Facilitate annual benefit enrollment communications to employees as requested
- Assist with preparation of responses to requests for records (e.g., subpoenas, Internal/External Audit, etc.)
- All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management
Required Skills
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in an HR related role required
- Call center experience preferred
- Excellent listening skills with a patient and empathetic demeanor
- Bilingual speaking English/Spanish preferred
- Union experience preferred
- Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills essential
- Ability to identify when requests or HR related matters require escalation to resolve timely
- Experience in a manufacturing or other environment with a large hourly (blue-collar) employee population and multiple locations preferred.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Dedication to customer satisfaction
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Must be diligent, strong work ethic with an attention to detail and accuracy
- Works with a sense of urgency handling tasks with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism while maintaining a positive attitude
- Ceridian Dayforce experience is a plus
- Ability to build positive relationships with all levels and customers within an organization
