The Indirect Tax Competency Centre for North Western Europe operational scope consists of more than twenty Novartis legal entities .
The Indirect Tax (IDT) Competency Centre (CC) delivers quality services for the Novartis Group of entities within the Regional CC, having oversight and responsibility for indirect tax matters. The IDT CC Associate supports the IDT CC Lead in managing Indirect Tax related matters within the Competency Centre. The IDT Associate collaborates with the local business teams, IDT CoE teams and CC Lead to maintain oversight of the end-to-end compliance process for IDT tax reporting, ensuring high quality of data and timely delivery of reporting. Supporting the CC Lead with indirect tax advice to local business, understanding tax impact of new business scenarios and assists in implementing appropriate tax processes in systems, assist with ad hoc IDT projects, IDT internal controls (NFCM), assists in the writing up of procedures as well as audit management in line with local legislation and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
•Provides high quality services with a clear customer focus, escalating exceptions where appropriate;
•Accounting and Reporting: Assist in the accuracy of defined tax calculation model and BS account reconciliations. Assist in defining master data set up/changes to align with local statutory requirements
•Compliance: continuous monitoring of reporting timelines and review of returns identifying possible tax risks. Assist in implementing correcting procedures.
•Audits: assist in providing audit deliverables, preparing and delivering supporting documentation
•Advice and project management: provide tax advice and support to local functions in collaboration with CC Lead. Identify and share opportunities to drive productivity for tax efficient business model set up and minimise tax costs to local business
•Guidance: prepare and review procedures, work instructions and guidelines in line with Novartis standards and controls
•Controls: Perform and monitor relevant internal SOX controls ( NFCM) and align with externally agreed tax regulatory framework.
•Interacts proactively with various stakeholders (e.g. within local business functions and Novartis process organizations within NGSC centres);
•Coordinates activities within the local FSCs, NGSCs, Group Tax and 3rd party service providers, ensuring seamless service delivery;
•Actively supports continuous improvements in compliance and related processes and helps to deliver innovative solutions for an efficient and effective indirect tax function.
