Job Purpose

Drive positive employee engagement through the delivery of relevant and impactful internal marketing and communications plans that also position Standard Bank as the employee brand of choice. Enable the execution of effective business strategies and results by partnering with assigned business units to plan, scope & deliver impactful internal marketing and communications solutions.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Output group 1* Participate in the development and review of internal communications strategy and planning
Outputs*
  • Participate in the development of the overall internal communication strategy which reflects the needs of varied stakeholders in (marketing, business units, HR, IT, etc.).
  • Participate in the development of the appropriate structures, systems, competencies and values in order to meet and exceed the goals of the internal communications team.
  • Implement strategies to increase online traffic to Standard Bank intranet.
  • Communicate the internal communications strategy and plan to internal stakeholders and external agency stakeholders.
  • Participate in the review of the internal communications strategy and plans.
  • Participate in the development of in-depth understanding of business unit strategies, plans and objectives.
  • Participate in the development of understanding of internal customer experience strategy, plans and objectives.
  • Participate and be integral to the marketing strategic planning of the all business units marketing and communication strategies from an internal point of view.
  • Actively research and keep up to date on digital and direct trends and recommend new ways in which internal communications may be used in the business.
  • Participate in the review of new technologies and keep the business at the forefront of developments in internal communications.
  • Contribute to innovation by partnering with all parts of the business such as IT, innovation capability, and Group internal communications.
Output group 2* Manage internal communications initiatives
Outputs*
  • Develop and manage optimal channel implementation plans and executional approaches. Develop timelines and templates for each communication project
  • Apply insights to develop strong platforms for messaging
  • Scope, gather and manage relevant content & documentation required to support content development
  • Provide regular reports and feedback to associates, partners and colleagues that demonstrate insight, analysis and solutions
  • Provide project/campaign/activity results & measurement to evidence business impact
  • Deliver the Employment Brand through effective marketing and communication platforms, campaigns, concepts and plans
  • Manage and provide direction on partner budgets
  • Demonstrate innovation and creativity in effectively managing processes to quality standards
 
Output  group 3* Participate in the internal communication related projects for the business.
Outputs
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements and develop full scale communication project plans
  • Participate in the coordination of all aspects of internal communications projects including: meeting deadlines, time management, contingency planning, approval channels, and procedures, budgeting, campaign analysis, and monitoring procedures;
  • Participate in the establishment and articulation of project scope, strategy and objectives to internal Clients, production team, key leadership;
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Ensure a seamless communications process for all stakeholders throughout a project
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and provide regular feedback to all parties involved in project
  • Manage expectations of business and /or country project teams, providing direction and support
Output group 4* Building Client relationships
Outputs
  • Support, manage and maintain relationships with designated business partners and teams to ensure ongoing confidence, trust and commitment to the contribution of internal marketing and communications in their business
  • Coordinate relationships with other stakeholder groups and associates who influence internal marketing and communications implementations. This includes embedded teams, country teams and indirect business associates
  • Manage agency & partner relationships to ensure the best quality of support and service delivery.  This includes internal partners (e.g. Digital, research teams)
Output group 5* Participate in the development and implementation of internal communication policies and procedures
Outputs
  • Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the digital and direct marketing for internal channels.
  • Assist business units in the development and management of regency rules ensuring compliance within parameters.
  • Recommend marketing communication standards and policy changes to line managers.
Output group 6* Monitor Risk and Compliance.
Outputs
  • Manage Risk timeously and report incidents
  • Partner with Compliance to ensure that all marketing activities are compliant with regulatory frameworks;
  • Drive effective mandatory compliance training in Group internal communications
  • Complete mandatory compliance training

Preferred Qualification and Experience

  • Degree in Social Science / Marketing / Public Relations / Journalism.
  • This is fast paced high volume role so previous experience in an Internal communications role is required.  Additional Marketing experience would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal are essential.
  • Previous experience delivering projects or project management would be advantageous as well as working alongside senior stakeholders, producing executive communications and supporting Town Halls.
  • Involvement or helping to formulate communication campaigns for change management or business transformation projects.
  • Previous experience working within a bank or large organisation would be beneficial.
