THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

Responsible for collaborating across the IT organization and the business to manage the prioritized project portfolio. Accountable for oversight of all projects within assigned portfolio and the successful execution of the portfolio body of work. With a strategic perspective, you’ll ensure greater awareness, alignment, and effective coordination of the priorities and resources throughout the organization. Ultimately ensures business value is achieve from the delivery of projects and strategic initiatives led by the PMO Portfolio and Project Managers.

YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH ALL OF THIS BY:

  • Provide oversite and governance of Strategic Initiatives – Coordinate and track key activities related to strategic initiatives and drive the continuous progress and communication required to meet program objectives.
  • Create, maintain, and improve project/program management practices and tools to ensure a cohesive approach for the IT PMO team
  • Oversees the management and reporting of a portfolio of programs and projects; provides insights to management regarding program progress, resource needs, and risks to assist with long-range planning efforts.
  • Drive efforts to improve the PMO’s portfolio management processes and use of PPM tools
  • Help improve IT ability to leverage agile development at scale.
  • Oversite and escalation of portfolio issues and recommendations on remediation of execution risks.
  • Responsible for interdependency management across all portfolios.
  • Facilitate portfolio reviews at multiple levels of the organization with an emphasis on building strong business relationships.
  • Track, analyze and report on critical Portfolio and program KPIs to executives and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure business value is identified and tracked through
  • Ensures organizational readiness to operationalize value delivered through projects and initiatives
  • Partner with resource managers to ensure demand forecasting is aligned with the capacity of IT resources to meet demands.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers/Scrum Masters and Resource Manager to conduct impact analysis on capacity due to changes in demand

ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

 

Qualified candidates will have  expert Portfolio, Program and Project Management skills. Additional Requirements include:

  • Estimating, planning, tracking, resource, cost, issue, risk, scope and change request management, and decision tracking
  • Management of enterprise level IT projects and programs
  • Exceptional influencing, leadership and collaboration skills with demonstrated excellence in building relationships with internal Business and IT leadership
  • Effective leader of cross functional teams and direct reports
  • Results driven leader that owns the project portfolio, has managerial courage and organizational agility
  • Portfolio Management experience to identify, prioritize, manage, and track projects aligned with business objectives
  • Experience managing resources in a matrixed organization
  • Excellent Communication skills with a proven ability to manage stakeholder and leadership communication
  • Certification in Project Management and Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree a plus.

 

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  •  5 + years of project management experience with focus on retail industry.
  • Experience with Planview PPM Pro
  • Experience leading Agile Development
  • Understanding of Lean and Continuous improvement

  • Normal office demands.
  • Location: Corporate base role in Bolingbrook IL or remote opportunity.
