Group/Role Overview:
The 3DI Process Technology Group at TTCA focuses on Heterogenous Integration R&D, including Wafer to Wafer (W2W) Fusion and Hybrid Bonding, TSV formation and Wafer Thinning for use in semiconductor manufacturing. We optimize the processes and hardware used to stack integrated circuits for advanced 3D applications including CMOS image sensors and memory devices. The Laser Process Engineer will be an integral part of the group working on developing advanced processes for wafer and die stacking technologies. This individual will provide process engineering support to ongoing development projects at TEL, in addition to identifying and developing novel processes in this rapidly evolving semiconductor space.

We have an opening for a Laser Process Engineer with expertise in laser physics and engineering. You will work with TEL’s suppliers to screen laser options for specific projects. You will need an understanding of semiconductor processes to specify, design, and oversee deployment of high-power lasers, and work to determine requirements, set specifications and address technology options.

Responsibilities:
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to suppliers in the execution of their work scope with a focus on defining, developing, and deploying highly complex high-power lasers for TEL’s emerging products.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for high power lasers and opto-electronic components.
• Conduct research into novel approaches for process development.

Qualifications:
• MS/PhD in electrical engineering or physics with a specialization in lasers.
• Expert knowledge of current state-of-the-art laser physics, simulations, characterization and reliability physics.
• Expert knowledge of laser optics, opto-electronic device packaging and reliability engineering principles.
• Knowledge of Design of Experiments
• Experience in writing technical specifications and statements of work.
• Experience with laser ablation of dielectric films will be preferred.

Communication and team skills
• Must be fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work in teams as well as individually
• Must possess the ability and desire to work as a part of a multicultural team

Physical Demands and Work Conditions
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 35 pounds. This position also requires 4 to 6 hours per day at a computer screen/keyboard.
