Overview:
Responsible for the maintenance, repairs and upkeep of plant operational equipment at the Kearny, NJ oils packaging plant. Competitive pay and excellent benefits. The primary schedule will be Monday-Friday 7a-4p but must be willing to cover additional shifts on nights and weekends as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance activities and repairs on all manufacturing process equipment. (Includes cleaning, lubricating, adjusting parts, equipment, and machinery).
- Repair gearboxes, drive couplings, chain drives, and belt drives.
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, centrifugal, piston, rotary and other positive displacement pumps.
- Analyze mechanical and electrical operational problems on assigned equipment and plan for and take corrective action; make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
- Create and maintain a safe work environment.
- Timely completion of tasks and work orders with appropriate documentation according to standard operating procedures, applicable standards, guidelines and policies.
- Troubleshoot and repair facility machinery.
- Monitor production lines and address any abnormal condition(s) of the machines.
- Perform adjustments and assist line operators with solving problems on different machines to improve quality and efficiency of the lines during production runs and changeovers.
- Work with operators to monitor all safety items on the machines and keep them in optimal operating condition.
- Perform major preventative maintenance activities on the production lines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skill/Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or its equivalency
- 3-5 years experience with packaging equipment, including basic knowledge of manufacturing equipment: including, pumps, motors, conveyors, air valves, and various power sources.
- Blueprint and electrical schematic reading ability
- Industrial electrical skills
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of PLC and HMI and experience with steam boilers and systems is a plus
