The Role

We’re on the lookout for a Maintenance Fitter to join our team, based at our Papakura manufacturing plant. This role is working across 2x rotating shifts (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am) – so, you’ll need to be flexible, and committed to shift work – and, you’ll need to have reliable transport to attend work at various shift times.

We’re looking for a passionate individual who is ready to take ownership of equipment and stretch themselves to become a subject matter expert in our key manufacturing plant assets. We are looking for someone to shine, who is passionate for continuous improvement and has a hunger for reducing loss and waste through preventative maintenance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working to required safety standards
  • Completing preventative maintenance and supporting changeovers on machines
  • Supporting breakdowns and root cause analysis
  • Supporting key project work
  • Ensuring necessary documentation is completed on time and in full
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, and maintaining clear and effective communication

 

About You

First and foremost, you’ll be a team player, who has the team’s best interests front of mind. You’ll work hard to ensure the team is able to operate in a safe, effective, and efficient way. You’ll need to be someone who has high work standards, and strong attention to detail – your ability to accurately follow processes, and adhere to safety and quality requirements, will be key to success in the role.

 

You’ll need the ability to work under pressure and effectively manage your workload.

 

You’ll need to be a forward thinker, who takes a practical and pragmatic approach to your work. Your communication will be second to none, and you’ll work collaboratively with your team to ensure things run smoothly.

 

The ‘must haves’:

  • 4+ years’ experience working in FMCG manufacturing environment – ideally within food or beverage, with an understanding of hygiene practices within the sector
  • National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Level 4)
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft, SAP, MEX)
  • You’ll also need to hold the legal right to work in New Zealand

 

Advantageous skills (not essential):

  • Working at Heights Certificate
  • Confined Space and Gas Detection Certificate
  • Higher level certification in Engineering or Welding.
  • Current Electrical Service Technician (EST) license
  • Certificate in Energy and Chemical Operations (Boiler Operation) Level 3
