This role will be based in our Liverpool plant and reports to the process engineering manager
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental systems and procedures
Process & machine modification implements new project equipment to meet specific production requirements, as well as improve existing processes.
To be responsible for the day to day operation activities, managing daily improvement and making sure that the equipment’s are operating properly with good throughput and quality
To analyse data from process production (scrap, efficiency, OT, production capacity, OVC, etc.) and lead in continuous improvement activities.
To develop and upgrade process capability, tooling and machine performance for yield improvement, safety, cost and productivity
Develop control measures to ensure quality of the final product is met
Test and approve new materials introduced into the cable manufacturing process and investigate non-conforming materials and/or processes
Investigate customer complaints jointly with QA department
Provide process documentation and operating instructions including technical support regarding the cable manufacturing process
To provide training and guidelines to operators, demonstrate and promote safe working practices and methodologies
Source equipment, parts and supplies, preparation of capital investment proposals
Maintain and follow quality standards in production according to the Company Quality policies and regulations
Oversight of processes and working to maintain optimization of the production line
Assisting Process Technicians in troubleshooting in the event of a problem
Presentation of data and reports to senior colleagues and management
Report monthly on material over-usage in assigned areas making recommendations for improvement
Maintain and develop procedures for improving process efficiencies (speed, rates/outputs) with Process Owners
Provide technical support for Manufacturing regarding materials, compounds, process improvement/innovation and continuous improvement strategies with a view to reduced material usage and therefore maximising cost benefit
Actively contribute to new product development for cables
Problem solving and Troubleshooting the process
Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output
Implement lean initiatives to build a continuous improvement culture. Using tools such as; visual management, A3’s, SMED, and 5S
What You’ll Need To Succeed
5 years’ experience in a similar position within mechanical, process, plastics engineering
Ability to be responsible for the process design, operation and implementation and skills to improve processes in order to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability
Proven work experience in process engineering
Creativity and Continuous Improvement mind set
Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills
Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across the business from operations to board room
Proven team member who can maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with colleagues and customers.
Ability to cope and work with disruption and adapt to changing priorities.
A passion for learning and personal growth, with meaningful focus on industry developments.
Have excellent general engineering problem-solving skills
The ability to motivate others is crucial as is a sound level of technical understanding of manufacturing process, products and machinery.
Able to liaise with people of all degrees of responsibility to achieve results
