YOUR CRITICAL IMPACT:
In this role, your primary responsibilities are to manage consumer insights that helps grow the Cat core business (Rachael Ray Nutrish, Meow Mix, 9Lives) and informs strategic innovation and marketing initiatives. You will work with a team of human-centric professionals in the PET CO:LAB to provide holistic perspective on the brands in your area of responsibility.  You will uncover deep insights about consumer behavior and generate grounded and inspiring strategic recommendations to the business.  As a forward-thinker, the Manager, Insights will have strong partnerships with Cat Brand Marketing, Innovation, Consumer Engagement, Design, Strategic Portfolio Management, and R&D.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Work:  

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to serve as the consumer champion and voice of the consumer from ZMOT to SMOT leveraging full research ecosystem (big data, social, survey, qualitative, syndicated).

• Design and manage qualitative and quantitative consumer research projects for brands; connect the dots to generate holistic and actionable insights that are grounded in consumer knowledge and guided by a broader understanding of business context.

• Keep the voice of the consumer and shopper at the center of marketing, innovation, design, consumer engagement, development, portfolio, and category and provide valuable perspective.

• Be experts on the knowledge estate and capitalize on collective insights intuition to craft integrated learning journeys that will address critical business needs.

• Bring together actionable insights and data to tell holistic stories that ensures impact with critical partners to inform key cross-functional communication and decisions.

The Edge:  

• Understand the range of methods and approaches to stay on the forefront of insights (Human-Centric Design, JTBD, Design Thinking, Evidence, Communication, Virtual, Big Data) + test/pilot/refine.

• Collaborate with CO:LAB to shift mindsets from facts and findings to insights and evidence that inform strategy and drive sound business decisions. Share learning with team members across the organization through for thought-leadership, ongoing education, and clear communication.

SELECTION CRITERIA 
Education

• BA/BS degree required; advanced degree preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 6 years marketing/insights/agency experience is required.

• Professional experience with Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) company, agency, or supplier is preferred.

• Strong strategic aptitude and custom research expertise across a variety of methods (e.g., shopalongs, ethnographic research, JTBD, virtual shopping, qual and quantitative research) is preferred.

• Solid working knowledge of Syndicated Data (Nielsen, IRI, Panel Data).

• Experience with tracking insights budgets

• Experience working on foundational consumer insights and translation to brand, innovation, communication strategy

• Excellent strategic and analytical mindset to help the company take insights-inspired business action.

• Deep knowledge of research methodologies and growth minded towards new approaches.

• Growing understanding and curiosity of big data, syndicated data, purchase data, and analytics.

• Ability to elevate barriers and come with solutions to partners and leadership.

• Strong partner and supplier management skills.

• Self-motivator with entrepreneurial mindset.

• Strong ability to craft clear story – present and communicate effectively.

• Highly collaborative team player with the ability to draw on strengths and drive swiftly towards answers.

• Sense of curiosity to deepen our understanding of consumers and the competitive marketplace.

• In future, potential travel for approximately 15-25%.
