Position Summary

The Manager – IT Network Security position is a technology lead position responsible for the ongoing administration and security operations of our network infrastructure. This hands-on individual will lead a team of 2-3 security operations professionals in daily secure network design, implementation, and support functions. In addition, this individual will serve as our primary security subject matter expert, who will manage our enterprise firewall appliances, load-balancers, and our security incident and event management (SIEM) platform. As the technical lead, the individual will have a deep technical understanding of critical network security infrastructure and will focus on ensuring a highly available and secure experience for our employees. The individual will coordinate all troubleshooting and/or triage efforts should the security appliances and/or configuration fail or experience any type of incident.  This position will also advocate for continual modernization of network security infrastructure and process improvements, which yields an improved connected and secure experience for our employees. This position will report to the Director of IT Network Engineering, as a part of the IT Infrastructure & Operations department.

Effective and collaborative interactions with colleagues, end users, IT leaders, and business stakeholders is critical to ensure success. The candidate should be an effective change advocate, possessing the ability to understand the impacts of technology transformation. As a first responder to incidents, the Manager – IT Network Security needs to demonstrate a positive, friendly, and empathetic attitude with their team members and internal employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Security Operations leader for network security infrastructure and security-centric tools and platforms

• Key contributor to the design, and implementation of a resilient, scalable, and secure network

• Design, implement and support a secure computing experience for all networked users

• Ensure Network Security team members stay abreast of current security technologies

• Key contributor to the design and implementation of a new secure Azure cloud presence

• Stays abreast of available network security upgrades, reducing the potential for zero-day attacks, in addition to minimizing technical debt

• Ensures the secure configuration and operational resiliency of all network security devices (firewalls, load-balancers, IPS/IDS, SIEM/logging, etc.)

• Serves as the Situation Manager during network security related incidents, ultimately delivering root cause analysis (RCA) and path forward

• Will be an active member of a future Change Advisory Board (CAB) that will manage the impact of change in the environment.

• Serves as the subject matter expert for all SIEM configuration and log aggregation disciplines

• Identify opportunities to improve process and operational disciplines

• Lead team resources with various requests, including maintenance tasks and business projects

Essential Requirements

• 12+ years of demonstrated networking leadership in a large, multi-site enterprise

• 10+ years of demonstrated network hardware configuration management (routers, switches, VPN)

• 10+ years of network security infrastructure leadership in a large, multi-site enterprise

• 7+ years of Firewall configuration and administration expertise in a large, multi-site enterprise

• 7+ years of security operations leadership where metrics are emphasized

• 5+ years of Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) configuration and administration

• 5+ years managing enterprise deployment and support for secure Wireless

• 5+ years of leading as a Situation Manager (SitMan) during an operational crisis

• Strong analytical skills with incident and problem management

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including executive presentations

• Highly collaborative, willing to help colleagues and business partners

• Consistently demonstrates a positive attitude, which fosters an enablement culture

Desirable Skills

• Checkpoint (or comparable) firewall administration and configuration (HA configuration)

• Enterprise load-balancer administration and configuration management (HA configuration)

• Knowledge of enterprise SPAM filtering/management technologies and disciplines

• Knowledge and expertise with enterprise security assessment platforms (i.e. Nessus)

• Knowledge and demonstrated expertise of Cloud network security best practices (i.e. Azure)

• Knowledge and expertise with Privileged Access Management technologies (i.e. CarbonBlack)

• Expertise with secure enterprise wireless networking (i.e. Cisco, Aruba)

• Checkpoint VPN configuration and management

• Systems resiliency and integration experience (multi-site, geo-dispersed)

• Application and/or product roadmap development expertise

• Collaboration platforms expertise (Skype, Teams, Slack)
