Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for the effective direction and management of the manufacturing and process engineering team. Reporting to the plant manager they will be responsible for leading the team in the creation and planning of CNC programs, coordination of tooling and fixturing and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to develop and improve standards for industrial processes, materials and products.
Role Purpose / Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinates with cross functional teams to identify the best approach to manufacturing designs
• Leads the Manufacturing Engineering team to create and plan all CNC programming for the plant within delivery and lead time timescales
• Provides guidance and support to production and manufacturing engineering teams on manufacturing issues
• Develops and executes Manufacturing Engineering KPIs in order to drive departmental performance and ensure achievement of both departmental and business wide safety, quality, delivery and cost goals
• Proactively identifies and addresses any issues with the accuracy of BOM, routing and CNC programs
• Responsible for the specification of tooling types and liaising with purchasing on tooling suppliers
• Creates and submits CAPEX and manages the renewal and retiral of machinery
• Researches and examines developments in manufacturing and machinery tools and techniques to increase ability to meet customer demand
• Delivers and fosters continuous improvement by actively participating in and encouraging the team’s participation in the improvement of manufacturing processes through the use of lean tools and techniques

Skills and Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed above. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or experience required:
• Proven track record of managing all aspects of a manufacturing engineering function
• Experience of working within a precision engineering manufacturing environment
• Excellent planning, organisational, analytical, communication and collaboration skills
• Proactive and effective leadership and management skills
• Ability to encourage and facilitate change through working knowledge and application of lean tools and techniques within a lean manufacturing environment
• Experience of CNC programming is desirable
• Experience of CAD software such as feature CAM, Gibbs CAM, Vericut etc is desirable
Qualifications:
• Degree qualified in an engineering discipline
