Kawasaki Robotics is a leading supplier of industrial robots and robotic automation systems with a broad product portfolio, able to service a wide range of applications all around the world.  As a member of Semiconductor Robot Engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer supports the activity of developing, testing and maintaining robotic products for semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead Mechanical engineer(s) on assigned mechanical design tasks/projects and lead discussion with customer on design requirements. Follow standard prototype development process including concept, design, review, prototype, test and QA. Lead the effort to prepare the necessary document per design standard and customer requests. Control the project schedule to meet due dates.  – 50%
  • Provide technical support for engineering assignment from customers including engineering calculation, documents, lab testing and report, etc. – 15%
  • Provide technical guidance on robot system issues. – 15%
  • Provide technical guidance robot system performance reliability evaluation.  – 10%
  • Provide field support on customer’s site, including domestic or oversea travels. – 5%

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 year college degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with coursework in design of electromechanical systems, logic and materials engineering.
  • Must have projects that include research, analysis, calculations, and creative solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills – ability to communicate (understand and articulate) complex technical concepts.
  • Capable of hands on work on the robots.
  • Knowledge of basic programming logic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using AutoCAD software
  • Experience using NX software
  • Knowledge of reading and speaking Japanese language in drawing notes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to carry, lift, push and pull objects weighing up to 25lbs and to bend, walk and stand with objects weighing up to 25Ibs
  • Ability to use common mechanical tools such as screw drivers, hex keys, torque wrenches.
