About the role

 

As Operating Technician, you will operate process equipment to safely complete shipping operations, the storage of LNG, gas production to local distribution zone/National Transmission System and LNG export via a road tanker facility.

 

You will ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of Grain LNG’s assets through the efficient maintenance and operation of those assets and support and provide assistance in ensuring the effective day-to-day utilisation of resources and prioritisation of work within the tasks and projects allocated.

 

You will undertake a range of duties on high pressure, cryogenic plant and equipment as required, Record and log plant operations, site activities, overrides and defects, presenting essential and complex information in a clear and concise manner for handover.

 

Monitoring contractors within their discipline or plant area ensuring the service they provide is delivered safely, on time, within agreed budgets and to appropriate levels of performance, you will be proactive in all aspects of the maintenance programme or site operations.

 

Responsible for the process and engineering isolations, you will keep up to date with all site maintenance and operational records of all work activities and operations undertaken.  You will be a part of and support the construction and commissioning of new assets within the terminal identifying the requirement to replace or upgrade existing plant and equipment.  You will also participate in the design of minor modifications, and the provision of technical support.

 

In addition, you will provide a supporting role in the event of a site emergency, and contribute to the development, review and update of emergency, security, safety, operational and environmental plans and procedures to ensure safe and cost-effective operation of plant and equipment.

 

We have 2 roles available, one to working on a 24-hour shift rota and the other a partial shift pattern.  Both roles attract a shift allowance.

About You

 

With experience of plant operations via DCS (Honeywell Experian), you will have a wide range of practical ability, knowledge and understanding of cryogenic assets systems, as well as technical process and engineering knowledge relating to the safety aspects of an upper tier COMAH site and Gas Safety Management regulations.  You will also possess environmental knowledge in respect of day-to-day duties, together with a proven ability to respond to emergency situations.

 

You will have a sound understanding of National Grid’s operational policies, procedures and processes and an awareness of safe working practices and legislation relating to high pressure gas/cryogenics and/or high voltage electricity.  Effective planning and recourse management skills to lead groups of staff to achieve efficient completion of tasks is also key.

 

Good written and verbal communication and team working skills are essential as are organisational and prioritisation skills.  You will demonstrate a self-help approach to common work-related problems, using IS systems to resolve them.  You must be able to carry out manual work in all weather conditions and be able to work at height above land or water.

 

You will possess relevant NVQ’s and City & Guilds or equivalent in an engineering discipline and have a full UK Driving Licence.  An ONC/HNC in Engineering, NEBOSH or IOSH are desirable.

A competitive salary between £33,788 – £39,750 dependent on capability, plus 26% Shift Allowance for full shift or 13.8% for partial shift.
