Job Description

Our Machine Learning (ML) organization within Technology Products in Workday is looking for courageous operations manager with business operations, communications and program management experiences to work with the VP of Machine Learning to drive forward flawless execution and key organizational initiatives within Workday’s Machine Learning organization across a team of 100+ workmates.

The Operations Manager will own an end-to-end process for planning and executing on key operational activities on behalf of the VP, Machine Learning Org including communications associated with these events and other key activities. They will also assist key ML leaders with operations on a limited basis to enable them to achieve focus within their teams.

Responsibilities: 

Strategy:

  • Support executive reporting on key risks, issues, budget, and key metrics.

  • Own managing OKR input and regular tracking to ensure regular updates to maximize alignment and enable delivery on the OKRs.

  • Promote operational excellence: identifying and executing opportunities to optimize our organizational systems and processes.

Internal Communications and Collaboration:

  • Organize and run and/or assist with key operational meetings within the ML organization including town-hall meetings, staff meetings, offsites, etc.

  • Establish and own critical communications within the org around key operational activities. Help craft messaging/communications for organizational topics by working with relevant leaders.

  • Cultivate close relationships with and gain the trust of stakeholders across ML leaders to work effectively together and ensure relevant leaders input is part of org activities.

Project Management

  • Lead key technology product operational initiatives, working closely with key stakeholders within and outside of organization – including Product Management, Product Strategy, Senior leadership, etc.

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of relevant business experience or product management/strategy or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knows how to differentiate between important versus urgent so that proper course of action can be determined as follow-ups.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; a love for creating order out of chaos.

  • Intellectual curiosity paired with a high growth-mindset. 

  • Strong influencing skills, with a reputation for getting things done effectively.

  • Superb people and management skills and ability to interact with peers, senior Executives, cross-functional stakeholders, and if needed external third parties.

  • Team-player attitude with ability to dig into the details as well as see the big picture.

  • Domain knowledge in ML or data platform not required but will be a plus.
