How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:
The associate will provide paralegal support to the Product and Funds Groups in the Boston office of Brighthouse Financial. The associate will be joining a team of professionals who are responsible for providing legal support to the Brighthouse Funds and Brighthouse Advisers, LLC (“BIA”) by partnering closely with Fund Management in analyzing and resolving issues that may arise in the operation of Brighthouse Funds and BIA.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare Annual Registration Statement Update
- Coordinate the review process of the annual registration statement and ongoing maintenance of such filings.
- Track and review all comments from outside investment firms and internal review groups.
- Oversee and implement all comments on the mutual fund disclosures from the SEC and other regulatory bodies.
- Monitor and file any updates (supplements), as necessary, to ensure the disclosures remain accurate throughout the year.
Preparing and Reviewing Quarterly Fund Board Materials
- Draft and revise correspondence and assist with the preparation and distribution of various reports and presentation materials.
- Review memoranda, presentations, proposed resolutions and other materials as required.
- Gather, assemble, track and distribute materials related to the Brighthouse Funds annual 15(c) contract review, Board of Trustees meetings as well as meetings with Brighthouse Advisers and numerous sub-advisers.
Maintain Form ADV
- Update and maintain Form ADV disclosures for BIA and filing such forms as required with the SEC.
Review Annual and Semi-Annual Report
- Coordinate the legal review of the Brighthouse Funds’ annual and semi-annual reports.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
- Strong capacity to manage own performance independently and effectively, exhibiting excellent time management, strong organization and detail orientation.
- Sense of urgency, with the ability to identify and articulate issues, offer solutions and follow-through to resolution.
- Demonstrate tact, capacity for discreetly handling sensitive and confidential information and ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Highly collaborative and team focus, with the ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Customer-centric orientation focused on anticipating and meeting internal partner and external customer needs.
- Strong software knowledge including all Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) required. Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously. Ability to communicate with senior leadership.
- 2-4 years Investment Company of 1940 Act experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal certificate
