Rate Classification/Pay Range: Grade 559-511/ Class 4 – Class 1, $30.83 – $41.00 per hour

Our Plant Operators are vital to Enbridge’s natural gas Storage and Transmission Operations.

As a critical function of this role, you will monitor, control, and operate all station equipment as directed.

What You Will Do (Responsibilities):

  • Starting, stopping and monitoring of large jet engine driven natural gas compressor systems that individually develop over 44,000 horsepower.

  • Operate large diameter pipeline valves and all associated compressor auxiliary equipment such as boilers, air compressors and emergency generators.

  • Monitor and operate yard and pipeline systems and all auxiliary equipment within the station to ensure equipment is operating as intended.

  • Provide isolations, blowdowns and loading of natural gas piping systems.

  • Provide support to the mechanic roles, as required, including the maintenance of large diameter pipeline valves, units, auxiliary equipment and safety systems.

  • Daily use of company computer and software applications for time entry, updating operations and maintenance records, etc.

  • Daily opportunity to demonstrate innovative and critical thinking with the ability to react quickly to troubleshoot mechanical failures, alarms and ensure equipment is safely placed back in operation.

Who You Are (Qualifications):

  • Must have a minimum Grade 12 education or proven equivalent.

  • Must be willing to work days or shifts as the need arises.

  • Must show a demonstrated aptitude in all Mechanical, Mathematical and Technical applications.

  • Minimum of a Class ‘G’ driver’s license and maintain a suitable driving record.

  • Must be willing to progress through all grades of a classification. Progression between grades will become effective upon successful completion of oral, written and/or practical exams.

  • Must show a proven ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision, in a fast paced, energetic team environment.

  • Ability to problem solve and use critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and resolve problems.

  • Required to perform respirator fit testing and may be required to use a respirator in the course of duties.

  • May be required to enter a confined space.

  • Eligibility to acquire the Certificate of Qualification as a Compressor Operator.
