What is the Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions team responsible for?
Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions group manages multi-asset class portfolios, comprising of equities, fixed income, and alternative asset classes. As a Portfolio Associate, you will assist portfolio managers by performing time sensitive tasks allowing the Portfolio Manager to concentrate on portfolio management, research and client service. Tasks will include: entering trade orders, coordinating with security traders as needed, improving portfolio management processes, monitoring portfolios for compliance with policy and appropriate models, generating trade programs when required, becoming the point of contact when the Portfolio Manager is away from the office, and performing other general administrative duties as assigned by the portfolio manager.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of Portfolio Associate?
- Monitor assigned portfolios against the appropriate model to ensure commonality, monitor cash balances and portfolio compliance and generate rebalancing and allocation programs when necessary. Input portfolio trade requests as directed by the Portfolio Manager.
- Maintain portfolio trading data. Coordinate with traders to ensure orders are executed in a timely and efficient manner. Record relevant trade order execution data. Keep PM up to date on execution progress.
- Attend weekly portfolio meetings and keep up to date in review of analyst reports and risk model changes.
- Maintain and monitor portfolio holdings versus targets. Improve portfolio implementation processes. Generate reports using analytics software systems. Perform portfolio analysis as requested. Maintain portfolio data for research and tracking. Maintain portfolio operations internal operating procedures. Build and maintain portfolio datasets and visualization reports using PowerBI and Tableau. Coordinate with internal stakeholders as needed. What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
- Degree in Finance/Accounting and or related experience.
- Some experience working in the financial services industry
- Methodical, organized, reliable and punctual in approach
- High accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to meet intra-day deadlines
- Able to multi-task and enjoys variety
- Uses “down time” productively as volumes/complexities can vary widely day on day
- Team player – offers and seeks help appropriately
- Projects a very professional, calm and capable image on the telephone and in person
- Ability to work autonomously
- Knowledge in SQL and Python a plus.
- Experience with Charles River, RiskMetrics, FactSet, BarraOne, PowerBI, Tableau and Bloomberg a plus.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel and Outlook
