Product Development Engineer 2
THE ROLE:
Product Engineering is a cost, quality, and time-to-market driven team responsible for enabling the availability of microprocessors to our customers. Product Development Engineer in a yield role includes understanding Fab technology, product features, and performance targeting. This role will be responsible for driving yield improvements through data analysis of test results, and collaborative debug with Test, Design, and Fab engineers.
The Yield Engineer conducts in-depth investigation and analysis to identify and eliminate the causes of detailed and random yield loss. Position includes data analysis, and yield debug of ATE and SLT manufacturing flows. Applicant should be familiar with modern microprocessor manufacturing, semiconductor device physics, testing techniques, and failure mechanisms.
The Yield Engineer is encouraged to find effective solutions to complex problems and drive continuous yield improvement.
THE PERSON:
Troubleshooting and problem solving are the fundamental role of the Yield Engineer, technical leadership and innovation are required!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Background in Yield analysis of Microprocessors, Graphics and Gaming products.
- Yield improvement on new and mature technologies.
- Aid in bring-up on new technologies.
- Process tuning and centering for efficient speed, yield and cost targets.
- End-to-end data analysis and correlation of WAT, WS and in-line process monitoring.
- Data extraction, summarization, prediction, correlation, and regression analysis.
- Reporting yield results and identifying failure mechanisms.
- Ensuring that correct product testing is performed on AMD products for optimal yield, performance, and quality.
- Driving solutions to fix identified problems.
- Representing the RTG PDG Team at technical forums and drive company-wide initiatives
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with data extraction, manipulation and storage.
- Statistical tools such as correlation, predictive modeling, contrast analysis, sample testing etc.
- Experience in applied Proven State Physics, Computer Architecture, Digital or Analog Design.
- General understanding of device flows and CMOS fabrication process (front-end, lithography, metrology, back-end).
- Experience w/high-level programming and scripting languages.
- Strong Proficiency in Excel, JMP, Genesis, SAS, Spotfire or other EDA packages.
- Proficient understanding of the Design of Experiments and their analysis.
- Maintain excellent communication with different program partners (Product Managers, Test Managers, Manufacturing facilities, Supply Chain, YE, FA).
- Wafer and FT/SLT test methodology and equipment knowledge
- Understanding of DFT (Design for Test) including ATPG, BIST as well System-level test concept.
- Failure Analysis and Troubleshooting.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
2+ years in Yield debug/characterization or product engineering experience with BSEE or a BS in Physics or Chemistry
