In this role as a Product Manager on our Digital Technology team, you will set the vision and lead the delivery of web-based and iOS solutions supporting United’s Technical Operations team. United’s Technical Operations team is one of the largest Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organizations in the world. The digital solutions we deliver solve complex challenges to help our operation work more efficiently every day. As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for successfully delivering multiple related initiatives across the team from envisioning through build and deployment.
Key responsibilities:
- Analyze and define efficient, cost effective solutions to support business processes and functional requirements in alignment with strategic priorities
- Define, communicate, and maintain the product vision and roadmap for application products within your domain, balancing end user priorities, strategic objectives, and technology strategy
- Develop strong working relationships with a diverse range of business partners including end users, process owners, leaders, and related teams
- Develop an indepth understanding of complex, interrelated business processes, technology solutions that enable those processes, and how both are utilized by the operation
- Conduct and facilitate analysis of business processes and functional requirements; working with solution architects, business analysts, and others, prepare appropriate documentation to communicate and validate solution approach
- Design user experience and workflow for new features, working with analysts and UX designers
- Review and validate QA test plans for alignment with functional and nonfunctional requirements, support QA and business analysts during test execution
- Develop, execute, and monitor effective longrange, release-level, and sprint-level plans; lead sprint planning, release planning, and road mapping meetings
- Maintain capacity management plans for the team, ensuring sprint, release, and roadmap objectives align with team capacity
- Monitor progress of deliverables, keep dependent teams and projects informed on progress; take corrective action if deliverable cannot be met or if higher priorities disrupt prior commitments
Qualifications – Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related field and/or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience in software product management or other leadership roles
- Expert level knowledge of agile software development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.) and demonstrated ability to effectively apply them in practice
- Strong working knowledge of technical concepts, algorithm design, data, and software architecture and the ability to apply these concepts to design solutions to business problems
- Strong analysis, problemsolving, and decision-making skills; ability to source, analyze, interpret, and communicate data to support decisions
- Ability to quickly analyze and understand new business processes and challenges
- Strong communication skills and ability to clearly present ideas to a variety of technical and nontechnical audiences
- A passion for details and quality in delivery
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Qualifications – Preferred
- Aviation or MRO industry experience or knowledge
- Prior experience as a software developer is a plus
- Experience with MS Team Foundation Server/Azure DevOps
- Experience with Project Management best practices (financials, risk, etc.) a plus
