We operate the Buzzard, Golden Eagle and Scott platforms in the North Sea where our business strategy is to maximize the value of our existing portfolio, alongside new developments such as Glengorm, whilst at the same time also creating opportunities for global growth.

The Role

We are seeking a Production Technician with Control Room Operator experience to join our Production Team offshore, North Sea.

As a Production Technician with CRO experience, you will play a key role in delivering best-in-class results to our UK business by:

  • Being responsible for start up, operating and shutdown of integrated process systems
  • Responding to process trips and unplanned equipment stoppages in a timely manner
  • Ensuring comprehensive records and logs are maintained and effective handovers are carried out at shift and crew change
  • Delivery and reporting of production performance
  • Safe operation and isolation of all process equipment in line with CNOOC safe working practices, procedures and policies
  • Reporting to the Production Supervisor, carry out emergency duties as identified in the Emergency Response Plan, or as directed by the OIM
  • Ensuring operational delivery whilst keeping abreast of industry best practice and standards
  • Embracing CNOOC’s Competency model with the expectation of attainment of CNOOC’s OPITO approved Competency framework to meet our lifelong learning commitment
  • Fostering a collaborative culture across a diverse group of people

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of all Process Equipment production activity, acting as a subject matter expert for the offshore asset team and hold experience in the Control Room.  Beyond that, we are interested in hearing from candidates with:

  • Strong influencing ability and a high degree of flexibility in your working style expected for you to adapt to changing operational and business environments and priorities
  • A role model mindset for HSSE & Assurance compliance, working within HSE requirements and ensuring that related activities are planned and conducted in compliance with current policies and practices
  • Significant experience at technician level in production operations, ideally from an offshore operator background (OPITO Process Operations, Hydrocarbons N/SVQ Level 3 Standard or equivalent, assessed competent in ‘Control Room Operator Controlling Emergencies’)
  • A continuous improvement & innovation mindset to take every opportunity to consider alternative solutions in light of lessons learned
  • The ability to coach team members to develop personal capabilities and enhance individual technical knowledge
