Johnson Matthey Fuel Cells is a customer focused, global business dedicated to the supply of high-performance fuel cell catalysts and components. The business, which is headquartered in Swindon, is a leader in its chosen markets with rapidly growing sales supported by its extensive R&D and manufacturing capabilities.

Role

We are looking for a Prototype Manager to join our team. The key purpose of this role is to manage the resources that allow the Fuel Cells business to produce prototype samples in support of our customer development activities and for in-house testing in support of our product and component developments.

This role is key to ensuring the rapid prototyping capability of a manufacturing business producing and developing new to world technology, supporting a complex fast changing research, development and rapidly growing manufacturing environment as the Fuel Cells business continues to evolve towards high volume manufacture and commercial success.

Key Responsibilities
Ensure the safe operation of the prototype facility, leading by example and promoting safe practice and behaviours within the prototype team
Collaborate internally and externally to set, agree and deliver the priorities of the prototype team
Manage the resources required to produce prototype samples, ensuring the prototype facility has the appropriate equipment available to produce the required samples
Build, develop and manage a high performing prototype team, ensuring that the team is appropriately resourced and able to deliver the requirements set by the business
Ensure delivery of prototype samples required by the business; meeting and exceeding customer expectations to support winning business opportunities
Ensure an urgency of response to customer requirements for samples
Ensure appropriate quality of the output of the prototype facility
Ensure raw materials are available to produce required prototypes
Set procedures and standards for workflows
Take on any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

Are you the ideal candidate?

You Will Have
BSc in a relevant Science or Engineering subject
Experience in fuel cells component and MEA manufacturing
An understanding of the processes required to create a fuel cell membrane electrode assembly
Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings
Demonstratable ability in leading a team
Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders
Demonstrable ability in customer relationship management
