Quality Assurance Manager

Job Description

The quality assurance (QA) manager is accountable to promote and sustain a vision, mission, strategy and policies for quality assurance, and communicate these to the QA team and relevant internal customers in a spirit of shared partnership, motivating others through personal leadership and credibility. Able to articulate issues and concerns to senior / executive management in a constructive, clear and actionable manner; using metrics and data. Experienced at presenting at an executive level directly to our customers. Knowledge of and experience with enhancing a continuous improvement culture; including applying lean methodologies and the 8 Disciplines of problem solving methodologies as a foundation for driving higher overall company quality. Operational experience in a fast paced manufacturing company of high technology and sophistication products delivered at a high level of quality a plus.

Ideal candidate is a critical thinking person who will proactively improve the quality systems of the company through participation in process improvement programs and strong leadership. Quality professional experienced at providing strategic and tactical direction as follows:

• Enhancement of existing procedures, and creation of new best practices will be a critical component of this role
• Ability to follow and drive strategic plans, remain focused, and clearly communicate detailed information
• Strong written and verbal communication, implementation, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organization, time management and analytical skills
• Must be able to learn, comprehend and apply new concepts, techniques, and procedures quickly
• Ability to establish and maintain and overarching QA roadmap, with a goal of increasing efficiency & quality through tools, technology and strategic direction
• Lean component and experience
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Failure analysis experience in equipment supplier role
• Experience with collaborating with Production, Design engineering, suppliers, driving QA needs min risks to current and upcoming projects
• Supplier management experience
• Strong ISO background
• Customer facing experience and strength
• Identify potential quality risks proactively before becomes a problem
• Focusing on root cause analysis and preventative action

Responsibilities:
• Build a continuously improving strong quality team through coaching, mentoring, specific training and performance evaluations
• Promotes and drives Quality awareness, knowledge, skills and capabilities for adoption and implementation throughout the organization.
• Develops and manages Quality course and education activities.
• Maintains and improves the company’s Quality Management System.
• Ensures standardized use of policies, procedures and essential documentation within the management system.
• Identifies, establishes and reports on organizational Quality objectives and metrics to management.
• Implements and manages various Quality program such as: Internal/external quality assessments; Six Sigma / Lean initiatives.
• Identifies industry best practices and implements within organization for continuous improvement.
• Collaborates with broader management to identify and implement quality improvement projects and/or portfolio of projects.
• Responds and acts as a liaison with external parties for audits, assessments, and requirements related to the Quality management system.
• Ensures consistent response in alignment with business objectives.
• Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure efficient operation of the Quality function.
• Manages and ensures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of related experience; or Master’s Degree with 6 years of related experience. At least 4+ years of direct management
• Ability to travel 15% required, including international. Ability to obtain U.S. Passport required for International travel.

Preferred Skills and Education:
• Master’s degree. A level of training in six sigma/black belt concepts
• Problem solving skills sets as a core competency
• Quality assurance experience in the semiconductor, medical or biotech industry in a manufacturing environment a plus
