How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:
This position supports variable annuity asset liability management strategy and corporate development. This role reports to the Head of Strategic Analysis with a focus on actuarial and financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, pro-forma projection and big data analysis as a researcher to support risk and capital management strategy development. This individual will support the Strategical Analysis team in building analytic tools, identify and measure the key risk factors and prototype analysis and reporting package. The individual will support the development and improvement to the ever-evolving hedge related reporting and analysis. The individual will require strong technical skill in analysis and reporting using MS Office, database and big data processing using Python and other programming language.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the hedging and risk management of variable annuities with living benefit riders (VA), fixed annuities (FA), and structured indexed annuities (SIA).
- Perform various sensitivity studies, performance attribution, trend analysis, etc.
- Maintain and enhance analysis tool and tool package to identify and measure risk factors in various stages of the risk management
- Implement various run-time-reduction techniques for projection models
- Build strong working relationship with constituents in and outside of the team
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
- 4+ years of experience in a quantitative role involving sensitivity analysis, risk management and/or mathematical modeling. Recent graduates with advanced degrees will be considered in lieu of experience.
- A degree in a technical or quantitative discipline such as statistics, mathematics, physics, or computer science with strong academic record.
- Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skill and experience tackling in-depth research projects
- Strong computing and programming skills with experience in Python (strongly preferred), SQL, MATLAB, R, C++, etc.
- Knowledge or work experience in several of the following areas: PDEs, time-series analysis, statistical estimation, Monte Carlo methods, Bayesian techniques, risk factor models, linear/non-linear programming and optimal control, general machine learning methods
- Desirable attributes: solid organizational skill, creativity, strong communication skills, attention to detail, innate curiosity and resourcefulness, time management
