Research Strategist, Research & Analytics

Job Purpose
The Quantitative Analyst is responsible for helping develop asset allocation proposals primarily for pension plans and insurance entities.

 

Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Modelling of various types of complex liability streams from pension plans and insurance clients
  • Detailed design of asset allocation proposals within the context of liabilities (i.e. cash flow matched, factor matched etc.)
  • Seamlessly analyze and evaluate portfolios from both a factor lens and asset class lens
  • Develop and maintain various reports to be shared with both retail and institutional clients
  • Design and maintain procedures and tools that make data management and research more efficient
  • Formulate new ideas for research that will help enhance frameworks and tools
  • Follow academic research and industry trends so as to constantly incorporate best practices
  • Work closely with various teams across the organization but most specifically with the Institutional Strategists in the EMEA region
  • Attract, develop, and retain team talent.

 

Work Experience / Knowledge

  • Seven years of experience working with pension and/or insurance clients. Local UK market knowledge and experience is required. Experience in other EMEA region countries is preferred
  • Some previous supervisory/leadership and project management experience preferred
  • Excellent ability to translate abstract principles into systematic algorithmic representations
  • Experience working on live client engagements, formulating client ready solution proposals
  • Very strong attention to detail with internal drive to sanity check and triangulate results
  • Excellent knowledge of statistics and optimization
  • Experience in programming in languages such as Python, R or Matlab
  • Experience managing and manipulating large data sets and working with databases
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work with individuals of various backgrounds
  • Ability to effectively coordinate projects between various teams
  • Passion to deliver excellent work

 

Formal Education

  • Degree in quantitative disciplines such as engineering, computer science, operations research, or econometrics is required. CFA designation or actuarial qualification strongly preferred.
