Job Description
RF Semiconductor Characterization & Modeling Engineer
Skyworks Solutions seeks a semiconductor device characterization and modeling engineer who will play a key role in the development of SiGe and SOI process technologies use in front end module design for WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE and other communications systems.
Responsibilities
• Execution of device characterization test plans including static & pulsed I-V, C-V, CW & pulsed bias s-parameter, load/source-pull, TOI, noise, and thermal measurements
• Evaluation, use, and support of measurement and parameter extraction hardware and software
• Analyzing parametric test data, collecting and analyzing modeling device data, and extracting device model parameters
• Developing advanced device model formulations and model extraction algorithms
• Releasing models into process design kits (PDKs) in EDA vendor tools such as Cadence Spectre, Keysight ADS / Goldengate, and publishing documentation
• Design and layout of device sub circuit test structures and detailed characterization devices
• Assisting in developing and validating PDK models in Cadence Spectre and Keysight ADS EDA vendor tools
• Assisting device and process engineers in analyzing and understanding the detailed performance of various semiconductor active and passive devices through direct measurement of device electrical and thermal characteristics.
• Enable automation and gathering of on-wafer device statistics
• Collaborating with development engineers on new processes and devices through design of experiments
• Extracting and analyzing parametric data to discover underlying causes for device behavior
Job Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in SiGe HBT and/or SOI CMOS device modeling
• Hands-on experience with semiconductor device characterization (measurement setup and execution) such as static & pulsed I-V, C-V, CW & pulsed bias s-parameter, load/source-pull, TOI, noise, and thermal measurements
• Hands-on experience with microwave test equipment including: VNA, load/source-pull, spectrum analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes, noise figure meters, VSA, modulation sources, and wafer probers
• Hands-on experience with various compact models and parameter extraction techniques such as HiCUM, PSP, and BSIMSOI
• Direct experience with setup/development/use of Keysight IC-CAP, other commercial, and/or custom measurement and parameter extraction software
• Proficient in the use of microwave linear and non-linear CAD tools such as ADS, Spectre, and EMX
• Must be highly organized and have excellent communication skills both verbal and writing
Required Education
• BS in Electrical Engineering or other related engineering degree. MS or PhD desired.
Desirable Skills
• Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics concepts and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with using scripting for automation of data analysis, lab automation or simulation control.
• Experience in the design, layout, and verification of test structures and calibration structures using Cadence Virtuoso in support of advanced process and circuit development
• Experience with statistical data analysis and running data analysis tools
• Understanding of WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE and other communications systems and how they influence technology and process selection for RFIC applications
