Risk Manager, P&C

Key duties and responsibilities

  • As a member of the risk management team in APAC, support and assist the CRO in P&C risk management activities led by or managed by the CRO for the region and assigned entities incl. risk appetite, tolerances and limits setting, risk identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the risk appetite and risk policies for assigned entities, i.e., propose risk appetite and limits, specific standards in accordance with local requirements.
  • Perform portfolio analysis and monitor portfolio developments for the assigned entities.
  • Contribute to the continuous review and monitoring of the assigned entities’ ERM framework effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Manage stress tests and scenario analyses for assigned entities, incl. engaging relevant stakeholders, and further develop the prospective capital assessment approach as applicable, in coordination with the capital, finance and reserving teams and contribute to the analysis and documentation of the scenario results.
  • Contribute to the preparation and production of internal risk reporting (i.e., ORSA, risk dashboards, solvency reports etc.) and external risk reporting.
  • Contribute to developing and managing relevant initiatives to further embed and strengthen a culture of risk awareness within the organization/entities (e.g., ERM trainings and communication).
  • Contribute to respond to regulatory inspections, internal and external audits incl. the implementation of remedial actions in relation to the risk management framework or risk-related regulations.
  • Contribute to risk analyses with regards to risk profile / risk drivers, capital adequacy and key risks.
  • Provide risk management guidance and support to the business, i.e. on business and regulatory matters.
  • Participate in / contribute to risk enquiries, studies, and initiatives.
  • Provide support to process owners on the Internal Control System (‘ICS’) in coordination with the ICS-CC team.
  • Contribute to monitor risk-related regulatory developments relevant to the Asia Pacific entities, i.e. monitor new and revised regulations, perform gap and impact analysis, meet regulatory expectations, closely track regulatory developments in the individual jurisdictions.
  • As a member of the Risk Reporting Team, contribute to the relevant activities and ongoing development of risk reporting (e.g., ORSA, risk dashboards) across the Group.
  • Contribute to the production of ORSA reports for assigned entities, incl. editing sections, progress monitoring. Support local and global quality reviews for ORSA reports.
  • Further contribute to the production of ORSA relevant central and adverse scenarios and contribute to review of ORSA scenario landscape / scope for Non-EEA ORSAs.
  • Manage the production of risk dashboards and perform quality reviews for risk dashboards.
  • Contribute to initiatives for developing and implementing approaches to continuously improve the quality and production efficiency of Risk Reports across the Group, incl. evolution of the Group Risk Dashboard, evolution of the processes to produce local Risk Dashboards and ORSA Reports, as well as related evaluation of tools / solutions to support report production processes.

 

Required experience & competencies

Education:

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Business, Economics, Mathematics or equivalent.
  • Certification in Risk Management or actuarial qualification is a plus.

Experience:

  • At least 5 to 7 years’ experience in the non-Life insurance industry, preferably within reinsurance, collected either in a set of line functions, or as a consultant.
  • Experience within risk management or actuarial with a good understanding and awareness of RBC, capital management and enterprise risk management
  • Relevant experience in producing internal and public reportings, ideally risk reporting.

Personal Competences and Skills:

  • Strong analytical capabilities and ability to disaggregate complex issues into risk components.
  • Exceptional proficiency in writing reports in English; ability to convert messages into concise write-ups.
  • Strong verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex topics in simple terms.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with multiple task assignments and timelines.
  • Team worker with ability to deliver results in a timely fashion, proactive in managing deadlines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and to actively share knowledge.
  • Excellent software skills in the area of collaborative tools, report editing and data presentation.
