The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate Scientist (Cleanroom process supervisor) to join our Biomanufacturing department in Glasgow. In this role you will be responsible for co-ordinating and directing cleanroom productions to support manufacture of client product, such as cell and virus banks, in a GMP compliant production facility.  With a good background in GMP production activities and mammalian cell culture you will work closely with the project Scientist and play a key part in ensuring the success of customer projects, from planning through to completion. In addition to this, day to day duties include working within the manufacturing facility following Standard Operating Procedures to ensure routine production campaigns run smoothly and documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with appropriate scientific and GMP regulatory standards; aseptic manipulation of client product, as well as training and mentoring junior Manufacturing personnel. The ability to maintain effective working relationships with support services, scientists and laboratory personnel is key to the success in this role.

Who you are:

 

  • Educated to a minimum HND level in a Biological Science discipline with previous commercial experience in a scientific laboratory role.
  • Have prior knowledge and experience working in a GMP regulated laboratory; previous experience of working in cleanroom setting would be advantageous.
  • A strong focus on quality and safety to ensure procedures are being followed.
  • Experience of microscopy, aseptic technique and cell culture, preferably from a commercial background.
  • Must be self motivated with strong initiative, facing challenges with energy, drive and the need to finish, with a strong focus on quality and safety.
  • You will proactively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve department processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Able to demonstrate strong planning and organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A good standard of written and spoken English and are computer literate
  • Prior knowledge of working with LIMS would be advantageous.
