The laboratory position requires Gladstone region base. Local candidates strongly preferred. SGS encourages applicants with local participation and support of local community.

Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Residential position in Gladstone working on Curtis Island
  • Working hours are day work Monday to Friday
  • Typically would catch 0630 ferry and returns on a 1510 ferry
  • Working in a small team of 2‐3 staff

RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Administer the LIMS system, authorise access to LIMS, troubleshoot LIMS system issues and support Operations Management with continuous improvement of the system
  • Train and mentor staff, performing competency assessments
  • Support laboratory opeations with activities such as: ‐Stock management of consumables and equipment, Laboratory data interfaces, including backups and data integrity, Documentation reviews
  • Support Operational Management with implementation of quality systems and EQP, including audits
  • Manage the laboratory result reporting process
  • Coordination of adhoc sampling requests
  • Support laboratory operations, including analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting of all laboratory equipment, complying with all laboratory processes

Qualifications

ABOUT YOU

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Chemistry
  • Ability to work under pressure with reliability and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written
  • Comfortable working in a small team
  • Proactive approach to work and able to plan and prioritise work
  • Proactive in contributing to continuous development of work processes and procedures
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision making abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation
  • Strong commitment to safety and environment
  • Ability to mentoring and coach staff
  • Strong experience in operating, maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation. Gas Chromatography experience is required
  • Significant experience in LIMS
