Senior Compliance Associate

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Reviews and assesses regulatory changes, including premium and municipal taxes, product and licenses requirements at federal and state levels to preserve the compliance of our legal entities.
  • Build strong relationships with the Specialty Insurance business units and supporting departments to understand and service the compliance business needs.
  • Engage with state and federal insurance authorities as needed.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting and Legal to monitor and keep guidance current for taxes, surcharges, and fees.
  • Support Corporate Accounting, Finance and Legal in the collection of data for the preparation and reporting of taxes and statutory filings.
  • Provide Specialty products support for Program Business and Single Risks teams by handling other business compliance items as/when required
  • Manage collection of data and response preparation for certain Industry Data Calls and Market Conduct Exams (with Law Department of SCOR Re and Specialty NA Legal).
  • Support the handling  of new or amended Certificates of Authority when requested with SCOR Specialty NA Legal
  • Support Specialty Compliance VP on range of compliance administrative functions, including Appointments/Terminations of Producers/Brokers, and facilitating sponsorship (ease-of access) of Program Administrators to external FMCSA, NIC or DOT portals for the issuance of various Automobile Certificates of Insurance or similar documentation.
  • Assist SCOR Re Law Department with preparation of required New York and Arizona Departments of Insurance Annual Operation Plans.
  • Support SCOR Cyber Security IT and Operations teams in monitoring compliance of Specialty NA Program Business clients (and Third Party Administrators, vendors or suppliers upon request of SCOR Cyber Security IT).

Required Experience and Education

  • 10+ years of P&C Commercial Lines experience with a strong focus on Regulatory and Business Compliance. Experience in direct insurance and/or program business preferred.
  • Proven track record of creating clear, concise deliverables that reflect a deep understanding of business needs and data requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience operating and interfacing with business management, including presentation skills.
  • Some working knowledge of how P&C insurance is transacted and administered in UK, Canada and France is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Understands communication channels and escalates appropriately. Strong initiative; able to self-manage. Comfortable with ambiguity and able to work through it to get the right things done. Must be able to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance.
  • Personal time management skills and ability to meet individual and team deadlines.
  • Team player who works well with technical and business resources.
  • Experience using standard project and business tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint,  SharePoint.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience. P&C Industry certification/designation a plus.
