Senior Engineer – Vehicle Validation

As a Sr. Vehicle Validation Engineer you will be responsible for performing vehicle level electrical validation. The electrical validation responsibilities include areas: Body Electronics, Telematics, Multimedia, Navigation, and Active Safety (ADAS). Act as the voice of the US customer. You will also conduct research on market trends, benchmark competitors, attend conferences, make conclusions, and present recommendations for future vehicle changes.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Research, development, and testing of vehicle electronics of all Mitsubishi vehicles as well as designated vehicles in the NAFTA market.

Perform tasks assigned by the lead engineer or the manager.

Perform all necessary testing activities within assigned projects.

Setup test infrastructure at vehicle and bench level.

Perform ECU test activities at bench and vehicle level and provide results to stakeholders for review.

Work with automotive suppliers in the testing of hardware and software.

Investigate field issues.

Perform software updates on DUT (Devices Under Test) as needed.

Troubleshoot hardware and software issues using test set-up.

Report and log issues, including track files and necessary steps to recreate.

Generate metrics and reports to monitor project status.

Ensure status and communication reports are detailed, comprehensive and accurate.

Perform road testing when needed.

Travel domestically/internationally when needed to perform testing, investigate field issues, or attend conferences/meetings.

Attend meeting and maintain meeting minutes.

Interface with a variety of groups including systems engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering, software engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and sales.

Participate in company business trips and test trips.

Represent company for vendor/supplier business issues.

Attend conferences and seminars and provide conference key points.

Perform vehicle benchmarking and provide recommendations for future Mitsubishi vehicles.

 

Qualifications:

Four-year degree in Electrical, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering

Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Should possess excellent driving skills.

6+ years of experience in the related fields.

Experience in writing detailed, comprehensive, and accurate test results reports

Experience with debugging vehicle issues and setting up the test vehicle

Experience with CAN bus tools

Experience with vehicle diagnostic tools

Good communication skills within the team, internal & external customers a must

Must be willing to travel domestic/international locations to support internal and external customers and vehicle tests

Must be willing to work over 40 hours on nights and weekends at different environmental conditions (e.g. Sunny, Cold, Snow, Rain, etc..) when required

Able to work in a regional and global team environment and be flexible with changing priorities

Able to multitask to meet project timing (time management skills)

Preferred experience:

Working experience on Body Electronics, Telematics, Multimedia, Navigation, and Active Safety (ADAS)

Experienced in all aspects of Design and Development of Automotive Electronic Controllers (ECUs), especially of Audio and Video Systems, their application and integration in Vehicle Design.

Experience with vehicle bus protocol CAN.

Ability to develop Testing Procedures for testing accuracy and train personnel as needed

Teamwork and Influencing Others:

Ability to motivate large numbers of staff in multiple organizational units to work collaboratively toward common goals

Leadership and instructional aptitudes needed to provide accurate information sharing within committees and groups.
