Your primary role as our Senior Legal Counsel will be to support the growth of Bunge Loders Croklaan’s EMEA business in all its facets and multiple legal areas. We are searching for a true ‘Legal multitasker’, a savvy consultant whose legal game will be top notch and practical in a business where working days are varied and unexpected.
Daily, you will grant legal advice on topics covering the full legal spectrum with the goal of optimally managing (potential) risks and finding solutions that help our business move forward. Your pro-active personality and ability to become a trusted business advisor, will ensure you can operate as the ‘right hand’ to our Head of Legal. The pitch of Senior Legal Counsel role:
To be successful in this position, you will need to juggle between the commercial interests of a growing business and managing all potential risks and liabilities while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. A big part of your workday will include handling all kind of legal requests and provide hands on advice, contract negotiations and drafting, as well as corporate advice. Yet, we are also eager to see you add to building the legal function and working on legal operations, budget setting and strategies.
Bunge is on an ongoing journey of growth and change, and therefore, we are building a new Legal team at Bunge Loders Croklaan to match the needs of our expanding business. We are counting on your input for the structure and strategy of that new team. To begin with, the objective is to become a worthy Legal business partner by providing legal advice required for our growing business in EMEA and developing/optimizing processes, procedures, and systems. You are to nurture a working partnership with the business by understanding it, it’s key customers and suppliers and the industry environment itself. The position requires regular and direct contact with all levels within the organization.
Here are some steps on how to hit the objective’s bull’s eye:
- coordinate ad hoc legal work (e.g. customer claims, legal proceedings, industrial accidents, supply chain interruptions);
- excellent contract drafting;
- provide pre-litigation legal advice and assistance on disputes;
- provide advice to our Treasury teams on Banking and Finance related matters;
- handle the governance of our diverse bundle of entities across EMEA;
- manage the legal aspects of M&A projects;
- work together with and manage outside counsel;
- litigation case management: handle and draft pleadings for arbitration/litigation;
- set up managing budgets & design and provide legal trainings.
What are you bringing to the role?
We are searching for a Dutch qualified lawyer who has gained experience in an international law firm and as an all-around in-house legal- counsel in a multinational (matrix) organization (advantage if experience in B2B and the oils and fat or commodities business) who is familiar with Food Law. In your resume, you can pride with the know-how on commercial contracting, M&A, corporate/finance, litigation, corporate governance & people management.
Furthermore, some of the pre-s include:
- Minimum of 8-10 years’ of professional experience;
- Hands-on mentality, stress resilient & being quick on your feet;
- Excellent command of Dutch and English (oral and written). German is a big plus.
