We are looking for a full-time Senior Project Manager – Product Management for our headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for managing large projects including development and maintenance of project plans and reporting of project status. Drives accountability from project team members and serves as a subject matter expert in project management process improvements. Mentors less experienced Project Managers. Other essential functions include:
- Manages large projects with multiple, disparate stakeholders
- Develops and maintains complex project plans which involve tasks of multiple participants and stakeholders
- Provides project status and summary to wide audiences including senior management
- Identifies interdependencies in programs and serves as the go to person for project management
- Leads project management process improvement efforts
- Participate in project definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs
- Provides reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems including evaluation of new technologies to improve existing functions
- Serves as a mentor to less experienced Project Managers (Project Manager 1 & 2)
- Understands business impacts of issues and how they relate to IT owned solutions
- Demonstrates broad understanding of Garmin’s business model including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales & Marketing
- Development and maintenance of the all project documentation
- Motivates and drives accountability from all project team members, including the coordination of resources assigned to projects for which he/she is responsible without direct authority
- Resolves conflicts with little assistance
- Consistently looks at the opportunity in all change
- Contributes to advanced technical research on new technologies and determining feasibility of team or functional goals/objectives
- Attends and actively participates in department and facility meetings and classes.
- Actively participates in and encourages others to utilize creative and innovative approaches to accomplish tasks.

Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another substantially similar field AND a minimum of 5 years work experience performing a substantially similar role. Other requirements include:

- Demonstrated experience and a proven track record in successful implementation of technology solutions

- Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and changing environment
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
- Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems
- Excellent time management and follow-up skills
- Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
- Experience with automated testing tools and testing procedures
- Experience with and understanding of web-based concepts and processes
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure and Security concepts and processes
- Familiarity with and demonstrated understanding of IT Service Management
- Experience working with Product Information Management (PIM) is ideal
- Experience working with Product feeds
- Familiarity with database systems and large scale application lifecycle management
- Experience with release processes and SDLC
- Experience working with API’s and ElasticSearch are desirable
- Experience successfully coordinating large scale globally based projects to move, add, and/or change aforementioned underlying technologies.
