Your Impact
Reporting to Group Tax Manager – Compliance, this role will see you assist with the preparation of all direct and indirect tax compliance deliverables for the Asahi Beverages Group in Australia and abroad.
You will assist with tax effect accounting calculations, ensure tax compliance processes are technically accurate – completed to a high standard and delivered on time.
This role would suit a tax accountant with a strong compliance background who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment due to an exciting time of growth.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in preparation and lodgment of all entities in the Asahi Beverages group, including the Australian tax consolidated group and international operations
- Assist with preparation and review of the month-end tax calculations
- Assist with the preparation and review of all tax inputs into the local statutory accounts for various reporting entities including both Special and General-Purpose Financial Statements with ASIC and/or the ATO
- Preparation and review of indirect tax compliance obligations for the Asahi Beverages group
- Co-ordination of day-to-day ATO compliance and lodgments including maintaining current company details and contacts per ATO portal
- Assist with seeking tax payment approvals in accordance with the Asahi Beverages Approvals Framework.
- Across all taxes, ensure all files are prepared to a standard of ‘audit readiness’, governance processes are adhered to
- Across all taxes, identify and escalate tax risks and / or technical issues in accordance with the Tax Risk Management Framework and work with internal and external specialists
- Support the management of tax audits and tax reputational risks throughout the Asahi Beverages group
About You
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, tax or law
- Chartered Accountants qualification (or similar)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a tax compliance role, preferably in-house, including preparation and/or review of income tax returns & provisions
- Excellent attention to detail and good analytical skills
- A self-starter, with the ability to work unsupervised and a demonstrated ability to work to strict deadlines
- Strong focus on technical and numerical accuracy
- A strong desire for continuous improvement – both in terms of personal development and in processes and systems.
- Working knowledge of the tax effect accounting standard and other accounting standards
- Good knowledge of financial reporting systems (eg SAP)
