Bord Gáis Energy generates, sells and trades energy for use in the Republic of Ireland. We’ve been in operation since 1976 and today we supply over 750,000 customers with energy in Ireland. We’re looking for a highly commercial Segment Manager who can drive profitability and growth within our Services segment. The Services segment is an integral part of the strategic growth plan for Bord Gáis Energy. It encompasses Homecare, Connected Home, Local Heroes, EV Chargers, Energy Efficiency, B2B services solutions, retrofit, micro-generation and Home Energy Management (HEM) solutions. The segment works closely with the B2C, B2B, Customer Value Management (CVM) and Marketing segments to ensure the strategies and targets are aligned.
In this key role you’ll be responsible for the development and implementation of our Services strategy, including our Retrofit strategy. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring the delivery of budgeted margin, operating costs, and customer targets within the segment. Your other duties will include producing analysis of markets, sales, profit margins, customer segmentation, competitor strategies, retail market data and regulatory developments, including the business models and associated strategy for bringing new products to market.

About the Role
- Implementation of the services strategy to drive profitability and growth within the segment, including job numbers and margin target plans
- Delivering the retrofit strategy for Bord Gáis Energy in B2C, B2B and B2G markets, in addition to the delivery of solar, battery and heat pump services and home energy management (HEM) solutions
- Manage the product portfolio and lifecycle management including product development, ensuring customer needs are understood and represented and aligned with business objectives to help Bord Gáis Energy to become the no.1 partner for everyday services and innovative solutions
- Developing budgets and pricing, to ensure the delivery of budgeted gross and net margins, through strong job number growth and expansion of services
- Responsible for segment performance through acquisition, renewal and online channels, product mix, profitability metrics and adapt discount strategy accordingly to maximise value over the lifetime of the customer
- Responsible for producing analysis of markets, sales, profit margins, customer segmentation, competitor strategies, retail market data and regulatory developments, including the business models and associated strategy for bringing new products to market
- Responsible for identifying and evaluating the best delivery channels for new products, both internally and externally, establishing partnerships where required and ensuring best value is achieved for both customers and Bord Gáis Energy
- Oversee and manage the multiple stakeholder relationships that exist currently and into the future, both internally within innovation teams in British Gas and externally through our strategic partnerships with Energlaze, Car Charger, VW and Ford
- Ongoing monitoring and assessment of other jurisdictions to identify new products and services that could be brought to the Irish market
- Work closely with customer operations to identify and assist in the implementation of any additional resource requirements needed to deliver the planned strategy
- Work closely with the B2C and B2B segments to identify any bundles, sales opportunities, affinity deals and partnerships that will ensure the strategies are aligned and contribute to the planned budget and margin targets
- Directly manage 3-4 individuals within the product and business development areas
About You
- You’ll have a strong commercial focus with extensive experience in developing customer strategies
- Demonstrable experience in successfully managing margins, sales and budgets
- Ability to make informed decisions to ensure optimal commercial outcomes
- Ability to build, lead, empower and inspire a high performing team to best in class results
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, able to successfully balance customer and commercial imperatives to deliver successful customer strategies and outcomes
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Experience in energy, utilities or construction industries is an advantage
