Position Summary
We are looking for a SHE Advisor to join the team here at Nestlé Logistics, York. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career with one of the biggest companies on the planet.
The main purpose of the SHE Advisor is to support the SHE Manager in the provision of specialist advice to managers of all levels regarding the management of Health, Safety and Environment in logistics.
As part of this role you will support the relevant department/line managers in the day to day safety of around 150 employees that work within the following areas:
• Warehouse
• Engineering
• Garage workshop
• Internal and external drivers
• two small offices.
As well as any contractors, 3rd party drivers and visitors who attend the logistic site.
A day in the life of a SHE Advisor
The main purpose of the SHE Advisor is to work closely and proactively with department managers and other stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture and adoption of safe systems of work; a safety mindset and high quality and environmental standards. This includes providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support as needed.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Assist in the maintenance of appropriate SHE communications and co-ordinate the response to SHE Alerts
• Assist in the creation, implementation and review of risk assessments, Safe systems of work, procedures and policies
• Support the creation, implementation, review and delivery of SHE training programmes for all levels of management and employees
• Maintain an up-to-date incident reporting system, assist with investigating incidents and drive the completion of corrective actions to eliminate root causes/reoccurrence
• Organising and planning of regular health, safety and environment meetings
• Manage and support a small team of safety champions and deputise for the SHE Manager
• Monitor H&S performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports
• Work collaboratively with department team members to understand gaps and support in creating a plan to close these in a timely manner
• Undertake specialist projects as directed by the SHE Manager
• Support in the maintenance and continual improvement of the Integrated Management System covering ISO 14001, ISO 45001
• Lead or support in audits and inspections of the relevant operational area to ensure legal compliance, ensuring these are completed with a thorough and timely approach
• Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments which could affect the logistics function
What will make you successful
We are looking for a team player with a real passion for SHE and continuous improvement.
• Ideally hold or working towards a NEBOSH general certificate
• Experience working in SHE, ideally in a Logistics environment
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and influence multiple stakeholders
• The ability to understand and analyse complex information and present it simply and accurately
