Shift Supervisor

Purpose of Job

Oversees shift operational activities in the plant to ensure that production runs are executed according to schedule and that production meets quality requirements.  Leads troubleshooting of equipment and production problems.  Participates in the Performance Management of Operators on assigned shift.  Serves as the highest supervisory authority at the plant during off-hours and weekends.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees the activities of production operators on assigned shift to ensure that job assignments are completed and that production runs are executed on schedule and that material produced conforms to customer requirements
  • Operates and exercises a working knowledge of ALL plant equipment including filters, kilns, ball mills, jet mills, screens, recovery systems, reactor vessels, compressors, generators, water treatment system, mobile equipment, boilers, as well as other required wet and dry processing procedures and equipment to ensure product and process quality conformance
  • Accurately performs record keeping and measurement of process variables, material handling and logistic
  • Properly logs data, collects samples and interfaces with laboratory personnel
  • Completes a daily shift report and logbook to accurately reflect the equipment status and activities of the shift
  • Identifies and resolves equipment issues through troubleshooting and performing necessary approved adjustment or repairs, initiates necessary work order requests for major repairs, approves said repairs
  • Identifies and resolves process irregularities. Communicates deficiencies, initiates process to rectify process aberrations or implement new process parameters
  • Participates in Performance Management of operators on assigned shift by providing feedback to Production Superintendent
  • Serves as the highest supervisory authority on site during off hours and weekends

 

Formal Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

 

Working Experience

  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a manufacturing environment

 

Required Personal and Professional Skills

  • Must have supervisory experience or demonstrate ability to perform supervisory duties.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs. Must be able to wear respirator.  Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 100 lbs.
