Software Technology & Architecture Program Manager

 

The Role:

As the Software Technology & Architecture Program Manager, you will own the coordination and investigation of various new technologies and IP related to new and innovative software projects.  As part of our SW Technology & Architecture Team, you will be partnering with our various Architects, Designers and Developers to foster ideas to become viable products.  You will also work in closely with the leader of the team and be responsible for operational and strategic deliverables.

 

The Person:

The right candidate will demonstrate a strong knowledge of technical program management and all phases of the SDLC, particularly in the areas of managing the Early Concept and Feasibility stages of a Software Engineering Project.  The candidate will also have experience with Windows, Linux and ChromeOS based systems and their respective software, compilers, and device drivers. Working experience in machine learning, graphics, and software/hardware system engineering is strongly desired.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead critical activities and strategic programs on behalf of the software technology & architecture leader
  • Drive the creation of comprehensive overviews, information summaries, analyses on demand
  • Strong technical program management of various functional teams, influencing and supervising the investigative workstreams for Architects and Senior Development Staff, identifying and verifying existing and new software deliverables, and forging positive relationships with Cross-Functional teams.
  • Create detailed plans, project management artifacts, technical summaries etc.
  • You will deliver results in an effective and timely manner, but also explore the opportunities implement improvements for future products and technologies.
  • Being comfortable working with senior executives is a hard requirement. You must address the needs and requirements called upon from AMD’s Software Engineering, Product Management and Customer Engineering organizations.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills will be called upon frequently, especially in delivering streamlined, clear and concise information to functional managers and executives.
  • Drive team responses to the long-range engineering budget planning process.
  • Host, chair and document functional leadership meetings such as staff meetings, workshops, planning sessions and offsites.
  • Drive the development, attainment and status reporting of team goals.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum 10+ years of proven Project & Program Management experience in dynamic and competitive industry, particularly within Software Development or Engineering based organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Horizontal leadership/Matrix management experience is required.
  • Flexible working schedule to manage global program execution team (Asia and North America emphasis).
  • Familiarity with the Semiconductor industry, especially the various functions of graphics firmware, driver software and platform hardware.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Operations experience is an asset.

 

Academic Credentials:

  • Masters or Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
