The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist, Distribution, Partnering and Subsidiary Risk to join IAG’s Group Risk team in Australia or New Zealand on a permanent basis. In this role you will bring leading risk management experience relating to the Third-Party Risk Management of Distribution partners and Subsidiaries. Your knowledge and experience of Insurance distribution comprising of Broker, Agency, Authorised Representatives, Subsidiaries and Intermediaries, will set you apart from your peers.
Critical to your success will be your expert interpersonal, leadership, negotiation & influencing skills with SME’s, senior and technical stakeholders. You will use your significant distribution experience as you develop new ways of working, frameworks, policies and controls to build structure, influence and drive governance. The key to your success will be your ability to think innovatively and be a big picture thinker while maintaining an acute attention to detail. A key challenge will be your ability to use your proven track record of innovating and fostering constructive systems in a dynamic and changing landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and implementation of a framework (systems, processes, people) for effective monitoring of third-party distribution partners to drive risks outcomes that are in line with IAG Risk Appetite Statements, Group Policies and Frameworks.
- Develop best practices for operational risk management of IAG’s Insurance distribution channels by, uplifting our control environment and supporting remediation activities, whilst influencing the delivery of group wide capability through the Operational Risk transformation program relation to IAG’s distribution channels
- Build and sustain independent and objective relationships with Line 1, Line 2 risk management, Project Steering Committees and related BU/divisions areas
- Provide advice and guidance in relation to the Operational Risk transformation project by assisting the Project and Business to complete Operational Risk impact assessments and navigating governance requirements associated with the Distribution Governance Framework.
- Deliver high value advice by identifying issues and productivity opportunities to BU/divisions, proactively monitor emerging risks which enable pragmatic business change and align with the strategic direction of the Group
- Driving improvement in risk capability/culture/awareness and promote Operational Risk management as a core capability across the Group.
- Contribute to risk committee reports as required, on issues, project insights and recommendations for remediation actions
Skills & Experience
- Essential: 5+ years of Operational Risk and/or Compliance experience in Financial Services (preferable line 2)
- Financial services industry-based knowledge and experience gained in a risk or compliance role with knowledge of distribution and operational functions and regulatory obligations in a banking or insurance environment is required
- Proven capability to link the risks introduced by distribution partners to product & operational functions and regulatory obligations.
- Experience in or exposure to managing/assuring distribution partners or subsidiaries is preferred.
- Sound understanding of Insurance operations, products, policies and procedures is a bonus.
- Excellent inter-personal communication skills with individuals at all levels of seniority (written & verbal);
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-driven, inquisitive, highly motivated, adaptable, ability to work autonomously.
- Utilise analytical insights and data to identify opportunities to better balance risk with customer propositions
- Desire to create a thorough understanding of how our customers and distribution partners relate and react to embedding risk management in everyday activities
