The Role  
The purpose of the role and your unique contribution is to lead Accelerator’s street and tech pricing strategy and delivery. You will be accountable for pricing incorporating technical inputs through to commercial street pricing into our pricing methodology. You will work closely with the P&L owner and leadership across the entire value chain –marketing, operations, claims, data, fraud, digital etc. to develop and deliver the overall Poncho strategy. The role will involve building technical and commercial pricing models, implementing the models and monitoring their effectiveness.

 

Key Responsibilities 
•    Define and deliver the street and tech pricing strategy for Accelerator to achieve profitable growth
•    Be curious and bring in new ideas/ initiatives to make Accelerator the best pricing function in Australia personal lines insurance
•    Work collaboratively with rest of Accelerator to deliver on customer value propositions and pricing initiatives
•    Develop and lead street pricing strategies and trading tests and implement initiatives for Poncho
•    Develop and monitor pricing governance processes and risk appetite
•    Identify where processes can be streamlined and execute these changes
•    Perform data and statistical investigations on the portfolio
•    Monitor and report on developing portfolio trends and performance measures
•    Produce data (or where applicable use alternative sources) to support product and pricing initiatives
•    Building out technical, commercial, street and LTV pricing models
•    Implementing the models into earnix and monitor their effectiveness.
•    Identify and implement a technical pricing framework in the Accelerator
•    Awareness and compliance with the Group Delegations & Authorities Policy.

 

Skills & Experience 
•    Strong technical/analytical skills
•    Strong technical pricing experience (preferably personal lines insurance)
•    Experience with R, Python, SAS, SQL or equivalent (essential)
•    Experience with pricing techniques and models such as GLM and GBM (essential)
•    Ability to translate technical components into commercial outcomes
•    Tertiary qualification in a numerical or analytical discipline i.e. Finance, Mathematics or Statistics or Actuarial related field
•    Ability to present technical information to a broad audience
•    Desired ability to meet tight deadlines and have exceptional flexibility of approach, being able to stay focussed when directions change without notice
•    Desired ability to display multi-dimensional thinking when solving problems
•    Desired ability to work independently and proactively
•    Desired financial acumen skills and understanding of insurance P&L
