As capabilities and IT system deployment increase globally, coordinating efforts and requirements for various projects increases the needs for project managers to manage these key initiatives. The Capabilities Project Manager will manage several strategic initiatives across US, CEMEA, LATAM and ASIA, orchestrating IT and business resources towards the successful delivery of key projects.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Overall execution of assigned IT projects

      • Assist Global Capabilities team in executing on several key capability building projects that are critical to Alnylam’s success.
      • Partner with IT stakeholders, procurement and SMEs on the planning, selection, purchasing where applicable and ultimate implementation of selected projects.
      • Follow Alnylam’s project management standards to:
        • Deliver clear project problem statements, outcomes, goals, scope and requirements both functional and non-functional
        • Create and maintain project plans with clear milestones, dependencies and resources identified.
      • Manage project documentations including project status reports, risks, action items, issues, and decisions (RAID) logs, interdependencies, change management expectations and other PM deliverables.  Escalate key issues and risks as appropriate.
      • Establish key value statements and expected project outcome KPIs.  Perform post project assessments to determine project actual outcome vs expectations.
      • Responsible for the project update process and constant communication to key sponsors, stakeholders and centralized project management office.
      • Establish, manage and run key team meeting with clear meeting cadences, agendas, presentations and meeting minutes.
      • Coordinate development of key process maps (current and / or future), IT project / system deliverables and project tasks to ensure clarity on document authors and reviews and RACI matrix for key project deliverables.
      • Ensure post Go Live activities are well understood and key roles are identified.  Develop RACI documentation of key post project activities vs roles and responsibilities (e.g. process owners, system owners, IT help desk, IT infrastructure, and other key roles as needed) to ensure a smooth transition to run activities.  Escalate any gaps identified to ensure resolution.
      • Establish overall project resource and financial stewardship. Identify key project resources needs (e.g. regional / country representation, process SMEs, validations resources, testing resources, infrastructure, information security, training resources, etc.) to ensure resource availability is identified on project plans and gaps identified and escalated as needed.  Support with resource prioritization and capacity planning activities.
      • Partner with key IT leadership to ensure project communication is ongoing and alignment / dependencies with other roadmap projects are understood.
      • Work with Global Capabilities team to enhance & manage overall project management approach.

 

Qualifications

    • BA or BS required; Computer Science and /or Project Management degrees preferred
    • PMP or similar certification required.
    • Experience in supporting wide variety of projects including IT system implementations and process improvement initiatives across multiple functional areas including R&D, Commercial, Medical Affairs, IT Infrastructure and Information Security and Manufacturing among others.
    • Proven track record (5 years minimum) of IT Project and Portfolio Management in biotech or pharma – including scheduling, delivery, tracking and reporting of global transformation projects.
    • Experience with IT system implementation using Waterfall and/or Agile or similar required.
    • Experience with process mapping and redesign using Lean Six Sigma methodologies
    • Ability to work in a matrix organization.
    • Experience using Smartsheets or other project planning tools.
    • Experience in sharepoint / BOX/ other collaboration tools.
    • Ability to adapt quickly within a constantly changing fast paced environment.
    • Strong Business partnership and stakeholder management skills.
    • Hands on / roll up your sleeve mindset required. Steadfast in doing ‘the right thing’
    • Experience developing and managing RFPs/RFIs, working with SW vendors and technology providers.
    • Experience with SW contracting and licensing.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Fluent in English; other languages are a plus.
