What will you do?
The Santam Group Strategy Unit (based in Bellville, Cape Town) has a permanent position available for a Strategic Analyst.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a strong contributor in a small and dynamic team, the candidate will be expected to generate strategic & market intelligence (SI & MI) for the Group Strategy process and support in the planning and engagements within such process. The candidate will also assist in the monitoring, tracking and reporting on the progress against key strategy objectives on a quarterly basis. Besides a strong analytical mind and an interest in environmental scanning, strategic monitoring and analysis, the candidate also needs to have strong interpersonal skills; an aptitude to learn how to effect strategic change in a large organisation; and a positive attitude towards personal learning and development. Flexibility and adaptability are therefore crucial. Key activities will include:
1. Content generation & dissemination
1.1 Analysis, insights & co-ordination
Analyse and distil data to highlight key themes and trends
Ensure efficient and effective processes are in place to gather, process and communicate SI & MI
Build effective relationships with key stakeholders in the SI & MI process
1.2 Scanning, communication & engagement
Conduct scanning activities for current and relevant information about the contextual, transactional industry and business dynamics
Categorise/translate information and insights into summary reports / presentations that are fit for consumption by senior managers
Present and test insights with senior managers and facilitate discussion to deepen understanding of business implications
2. Process support
2.1 Assist in the design and facilitation of the Santam Group Strategy process and other relevant strategic processes.
2.2 Formulate plans to support processes and play a coordinating role
2.3 Build productive relationships with key stakeholders in these processes
3. Strategic Monitoring and Tracking
3.1 Assist in the compilation of the quarterly performance dashboard. This involves sourcing data, building frameworks, analysis and interpretation
What will make you successful in this role?
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• A relevant degree
• At least 3-years working experience in a professional environment
• Experiences in analysis and environmental scanning are preferred
• Experience in Financial Services preferred
