Job Purpose
Invesco Investment Solutions (IIS), based in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, is an independent, client-centric group of investment professionals with experience working across investment teams globally to develop goals-oriented, multi-asset strategies for clients.

The Investment Solutions Strategy Development team is a results-oriented team operating at the core of IIS focused on delivering a superior investment experience to our clients.

As a Strategy Development Associate, you will lead efforts that drive the strategic priorities of the Invesco Investment Solutions team, focused on creating custom solutions that address the needs of our clients. You will report directly to the Head of Strategy Development and will work closely with EMEA-based IIS Investments, Strategists, Product Management and Advisory Associates teams. In addition, this role will provide support to the Head of Global Insurance Client Solutions, therefore, experience with insurance related investments is required.

 

Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Lead the development and implementation efforts of custom solutions that address the specific needs of our clients, with a focus on insurance, while working closely with Investments, Client Solutions, Product Development, Product Management, Legal, Compliance and other key stakeholders.
  • Partner with the strategists, product management and sales to support client relationship activities, including presentations, RFPs and other materials, by providing expert insights and content on insurance related topics. Participate as needed in direct client-facing meetings.
  • Assist in the development of strategic plans and objectives through the identification of strategic issues and opportunities that could influence business growth and profitability.
  • Be a subject matter expert on the insurance industry – understand all aspects of the insurance products (General Account, Unit Linked), requirements and restrictions (legal, accounting, capital), including pricing, structures, strengths & weaknesses, client exposures and sales trends.
  • Support the development of governance frameworks, including internal policies and procedures, for Invesco’s custom solutions and insurance related businesses.
  • Prepare materials, presentations and reports to provide regular communication updates to key internal constituents on key strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects, research and new responsibilities as needed.

 

Work Experience / Knowledge

  • Minimum 4-8 years of experience in the financial services industry, with at least two years of insurance related investments or related experience on investment structuring
  • Experience with sophisticated institutional and other clients on asset allocation-related topics including the implementation in varying legal and regulatory environments
  • Proven success with developing and implementing project, business and/or strategic plans
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and other technology solutions (Visual Basic will be a plus)
  • Existing knowledge of financial software, especially MSOffice, Bloomberg, Reuters, FactSet, Morningstar
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment concepts and styles
  • Basic knowledge of the investment objectives and issues in a liability context (ALM, accounting, portfolio construction, risk management)
  • Understanding of the regulatory framework, including accounting (IFRS, local GAAP), solvency
  • Knowledge about modern asset management disciplines e.g. quantitative modelling, derivative implementation strategies, non-traditional asset classes desirable

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced business environment and manage numerous projects and priorities concurrently while meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others, build strong trust-based relationships and create buy-in across investment centres, distribution teams, marketing teams and support functions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, communicating effectively to gain understanding, facilitate agreement and convey clear messages
  • Ability to work independently; self-starter
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to extract and analyse data relating to financial and business issues
  • Fluent English speaker; German a plus

Formal Education

  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in business/finance, engineering or related disciplines
