Systems Engineer III – Windows
Come join our Corporate Information Services (CIS) team delivering support and operational innovation for our Verisign global enterprise. The CIS team provides Verisign employees with services, solutions, and systems that maintain and promote internal productivity, and support business resilience initiatives.
The Position: provides technical leadership, collaborating across functional teams to deliver on IT Operations tasks and projects. This engineer will be responsible for enterprise systems and applications deployment, administration, configuration, automation and integration efforts in a VMware virtualized Windows and Linux server multi-site corporate production environment.
Key responsibilities include Windows System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) administration, content and package management, Tier III Support for Desktop Team, security vulnerability mitigations, and enterprise application administration.
Responsibilities:
- Windows OS administration and assigned applications to include Windows 10 OS.
- Performs daily operations support functions including systems deployment, upgrade, patching, monitoring, SME problem escalation and troubleshooting, incident response and resolution
- Deploys and configures Windows Servers for application/database, network/DNS, SSL certificates and other system components based on vendor best practice and internal standards
- Deploys and configures automation infrastructure to automate and standardize Windows desktop OS upgrades, configuration and patching
- Configures, upgrades, supports enterprise applications and underlying security components
- Assists with administration of SCCM infrastructure platform to include configuration, package creation, and configuring deployments.
- Collaborates with peers and other functional teams to push through and deliver security initiatives and critical projects in timely fashion
- Follows defined ITIL change management processes with ticketing systems and InfoSec security policies
- Develops document such as upgrade plans, deployment plans, SOPs
- Participates in team on-call rotation
Qualifications:
Required
- 5+ years of operations administration experience with Windows servers and laptops in a high availability secured enterprise production environment
- 3+ years of SCCM experience to include configuration, App package creation, and management of deployments
- Strong experience supporting all client management functionality of the SCCM including collections, task sequences, deployments, patch management OS and application upgrades, and vulnerability mitigations
- Strong working knowledge of PowerShell scripting and other WIN CLI tools or scripting languages
- Third-party content and package management, configuration and deployment experience
- Experience with Windows endpoint/client build automation MS Windows 10 preferred
- Strong OS and application troubleshooting and problem management skills
- Good communication skills for collaborating with peers, across technology groups, and briefing senior management
- Requires 4 Year Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent work experience)
Preferred
- Experience with Center for Internet Security (CIS) MS WIN Desktop and MS Office benchmarks
- Experience with Windows endpoint/client build automation MS Windows 10
- Working knowledge of networking, virtualization, storage, backup, physical server and other infrastructure components
