We are looking for a Software Engineering Team Leader who can lead the Product Security Team (DevSecOps) at our HQ location in the Kansas City area. This leader will work across Garmin’s global business segments to drive threat modeling, security scanning, and security standards for our embedded products across all product lines.
The ideal candidate will lead a fast-paced group (that you will hire yourself), build a vision and drive large scale initiatives within Garmin. This group of subject matter experts are responsible for building and maintaining security libraries, drive and implement security tools in the product development process, and also provide analysis, design, and training to the organization. Additionally, the candidate will foster and grow positive working relationships within the group and across the company.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a point of contact for coordination with executives
- Lead and manage a technical team to drive security initiatives across business segments
- Recruit and hire, Perform 1:1’s with your team, conduct annual performance evaluations
- Build and implement a strategy with the product teams for product security, including hardware and software, that is tailored to those businesses
- Build and manage common security libraries
- Lead and drive efforts on building secure products throughout the product life-cycle
- Partner with product teams to establish and measure security standards
- Drive and implement tools for static and dynamic analysis
Qualified candidates possess a Bachelors or Masters of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, OR a minimum of ten years work experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Other requirements include:
- 10+ years work experience as a software developer (any programming language)
- Experience managing a software engineering team (as a direct line manager)
- Previous experience with establishing software development practices across an organization
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Customer focused and data driven approach
- Demonstrated End to end delivery and innovation
Bonus points if you have any of these certs: CISSP, CISA, CISM, CEH, Security+, GSEC, SSCP, CCSK, CCNA Security.
